Blue horrors, squigs and possibly nurglings using same skeleton/animations?

Pede#6322Pede#6322 Registered Users Posts: 2,232
Rewatching the Cathay trailer i was struck with the thought that blue horrors bounced and acted kinda similar to squigs.

Do you guys feel the same and do you think CA could be ballsy enough to copy the squig skeleton for nurglings as well?

I not have that feeling at all.

Only some, from what I can tell. Some might share the animations, but I did see some running in a more normal manner.

Nurglings, however, I think would be different as they are more chonky.
Furthermore, I consider that Daemon Prince must be removed.

also in the trailer as the charge and the sentininels hit the ground i saw them running with flaying arms.

Not for Nurglings, they will be a unique skeleton due to their importance.

Yes just rewatched this part and saw that too.. Looks good. Only the clip where they focus on one i felt uneasy that they might have reused squig animations.
    Thx.

There's another portion of the trailer in which the blue horror is using a front arm to move forward I think? Highly doubt it's a one-to-one match with the skeleton, though the animation for the mouth is definitely very similar or the same.

Sorry that you are the one who made me snap but these kind of dumb-ass comments are made every single time there is a new unit showcase and it bugs me the hell out.

Maybe read my actual post? I stated/claimed no such thing.
I was confused and asked if any1 else recognized this in the trailers.

I even thanked another forumer 5 comments down because he pointed me to where in the trailer i could see that this is not the case.

Maybe take a break from the forum if it bugs you out :)

I got the same feeling after rewatching them (and indy's tzeentch video zooms in on them moving).
But i think they are just similar, not a recycle, as both squigs and horrors is very similar in bodystructure. The main differences being different kind of legs and that squigs aint got arms.

So it makes sense they are similar, but not the same.

Last time I checked, Squigs don't even have arms, while Horror have 3 and are armed with daggers.

Nurglings aren't really runners, so basing them on a Squig animation rig would be... weird.

Ive definitely noticed that with horrors

But for Nurglings that's hard to tell without seeing them move first.

edit: what the **** you guys, he's just asking a question. Something legitimately different from all the rest of the topics too. What's the matter with you people here

Squigs are bouncing while Horrors are masculine.

They used none of them in any screenshots and clips so far. With how small they are, they could very easily just be attachments than actual limbs in their models. Think how Ghorgon's extra arm is really there cosmetically than anything else. 99% of their attack animations work perfectly fine had the extra pair been taken out.

No they use it on the running animation. Check again..

We didn't see any attacks made by them as they were moved down.

Reusing SOME assets is not a crime.

Even TT models for different units sometimes reused base molds with details adjusted. Others were never official and were instead fan made kitbashes.

If the Horrors are a recycled Squig I honestly don't mind because enough additional work went into them to make them feel unique.

The Elemental Bear has some amimations that were reused from the Dread Saurian for instance. That doesn't make the Elemental Bear a 'lazy/cheap Dread Saurian reskin' or whatever.

I don't know, sometimes it feels like people are out there looking for reasons to be outraged and/or any reused asset will set them off.

Horrors might share some assets with Squigs. That's fine. It doesn't make them 'just a lazy Squig reskin'. It doesn't make them comparable to the current 'Warriors' mess. It's not a big deal.

To clarify: The Warriors thing IS a lazy copy/paste and should be fixed. That is a legitimate issue.

^^But pretending that every reused rig/animation/skeleton etc. is an equally egregious offense just undermines the legitimacy of our valid complaints by diluting them with nonsense.

They certainly have a very bouncy quality to their animations, but that is where the similarities end IMO.

Even if they did, I wouldn't care as long as they look good. Reuse whatever skeletons or animations they want as long as the actually make it look good.

We see here a GUO (Monster), a Beast of Nurgle (Monstrous Beast), some Plaguebearers (Infantry) and a Nurgling base (Swarm). Now take a close look to a single Nurgle compared to the nearby Plaguebearer and get a feeling of the scale we are talking here for those little imps.

And since Squigs (2 legs, no arms, basically just a maw with body)

have a very different anatomy then Nurglings

even when accepting that as the lowest demons around, their shape can vary a lot, HOW can anyone even think about skeleton sharing between Nurglings and Squigs??

What I see there, also does not make me think "The Squigs are coming!" in regards of Horrors. While Horrors with their body/maw look a bit closer, having usually 2-4 extra arms and a different shape, should still prevent to copy the Squig animation skeleton.

People are saying this literally just because those are all units with big mouths and faces...In a perfect world, I would have preferred the older models for a grittier appearance:

But for being an adaptation of the modern horrors, they look pretty good. I just hope the horrors split as they're supposed to. I don't think we've seen brimstone horrors yet.
