Cathay Lost

Did any of you notice that Cathay lost in the trailer? In first scene we have Miao Ying observing burning Bastion gate city and Cathay soldiers retreating behind Her shoulders, than we go back for one day. it is worth to notice because it may us show how start of campaign for this two fraction may be. It is possible for Kairos Fateweaver to start at one of Great Bastion gate city and Miao Ying regrouping a few province further in Cathay to retake, lost city. There is also a option for a minor Tzeentch faction to occupy this gate city when Kairos was called back in to realm of chaos because of... reasons.

Looked like tzeentzh literally dropped on their heads in the bastion (through rifts) and thus drove the cathayans out by suprise.

Cathay then prepare defence in what might be Nan Gao. The trailer ended after Cathay took big casualties and Miao Ying had to intervene.

The battle was definitely in favor of tzeentch.

    That’s actually a really interesting take👏

We don't know how the full battle went and it ended on the most pivotal moment. it was actually a pretty interesting and cohesive bit of storytelling we got. I'll try to do a bit of a written overview since it's pretty hectic:

    >Tzeentch forces launch a surprise attack through portals above the Great Bastion

    >The cathayan troops are overwhelmed and the wall is broken (likely to let their own ground troops through or future invasions)

    >They overwhelm the unprepared forces forcing them to flee to nan gau while Zhao Ming protects the fleeing peasants

    >During the day Nan Gau prepares for war soldiers gather, peasants prepare their weapons, female engineers prepare their war machines while a war lantern pilot says her final goodbyes to her alchemist sister

    >As night comes Tzeentch forces begin their attack on Nan Gau starting with another massive aerial armywhile Cathayan's intercept with a formation of war lanterns guarded by longma riders

    >Despite being outnumbered and surrounded, the Cathayan formation holds strong until Kairos arrives and shoots down half the formation in a single blast.

    >On the ground a horde of mixed chaos troops charge into a prepared Cathayan Defense led by an alchemist

    >The Tzeenetch troops attempt to skirmish on approach by flinging magic, but are quickly cut down in mass by massive volleys of rockets, and the ones that get through are met with Terracotta sentinels, elite troops, and a magic user. Cathay's formations once again prove stalwart.

    >Kairos decides he needs to turn the balance of the land battle flies down and nukes the entire central flanks front line with a single spell

    >Zhao Ming who has been watching the battle from above, realizes that if they are to have any hope of winning this battle she would need to defeat Kairos or he would destroy the whole force himself. So she drops down in order to try to fight him personally,

So whoever one that fight would have likely been able to take the battle. The Cathayans were actually doing good against the general tzneetch army. But they couldn't handle the massive magic attacks of Kairos breaking their lines.

Some gameplay stuff to take away for this:

-Tzeentch units have a massive air force and big boom spell, but their melee kind of sucks

-Cathay formations are really strong, but vulnerable to getting torn apart by magic

Guys but what I mean was the very first scene when trailer is beginning, it look like it is scene after battle is concluded (time:0:08 to 0:18). Miao Ying is standing a little above ground level (not on mountain like later in trailer) and behind Her are Cathay solder retreating, She is looking at burning gate city.

If we can take anything from the trailer, its that Tzeentch is gonna be the Vampire Counts of the Launch Factions; with a lot invested into their LL, Kairos with his obscene spellcasting. This'll probably be the same for Exalted Lord of Change and Herald of Tzeentch too.

If the Mark of Tzeentch gives Ward Save 5% or Ward Save 10%, their front line mortals may be tankier than you would expect even if they can't dish out as great damage as say Khorne ones.

They literally gave each other a firm handshake goodbye. It certainly wasn’t a very intimate, which tells me they are friends or sisters at most.

I'm not gonna debate this because it's not like it's confirmed one way or another, but I fail to see how something not being intimate prove that they're sisters ! You'd expect sisters to be intimate too !

I mean, if they were meant to be lovers, you’d hope they’d atleast give each other a hug before going into certain doom.

China would censor it if it was anything but literal sisters or literal friends. Not everything you see in life is a sexual fantasy.

The fact that you went directly to "sexual fantasy" says a lot more about you than me. Would you have said the same if it was two men, I wonder ?

If you said they were lovers, absolutely. I figure gay men have fantasies too. I'll ask my gay friend the next time I talk to him just to make certain.

Two women clasping arms before combat in no way insinuates a lesbian relationship. You are fantasizing. It says a lot about you. You are projecting what you want. You're the one pushing some stupid idea that has been shot down by multiple people. Time to pull your head out of the gutter. People can have amicable relationships without it being about sex. I can't go anywhere online these days without someone pushing some over sexualized fantasy on normal human interactions.

I would love tzeentch begin like Vampire counts. Focused on magic and air superiority, but i guess his weakness would be melee right? Cause you know, Vamprire counts lose against good firepower.

You're weird, dude. You see two people having a close interaction, and your first thought is "sex" ? You do know there is more to relationships than ****, right ?

Wether they are sisters of wives, the gesture doesn't change meaning, it's still the exact same thing, a symbol of closeness between two people that knows this day might be their last together, because they're going to war. You're the only one blabbing creepily about sex and fantasies and whatnot. This is nonsense.

I assume the trailer was mostly just representing a final push by the forces of Tzeench to break through the bastion, leaving the outcome ambiguous after Karios has busted through the outer defences and has been met by the woman overseeing the defence.

In campaign my assumption is that Karios' main army will start off within the chaos wastes or realm and your first real goal is to build up your strength to launch a full scale invasion of Cathey from the north. Perhaps needing to defeat or unify the other minor Tzeench factions to be their main representative first (will probably be similar for the other Chaos factions as well). While the Northern Provinces faction is mostly required unite as much of the area around the bastion and there will be some kind of invasion event once you reach a certain point.

I would like to see Tzeentch have "cult" factions, much like Savage Orc factions, that only have cultists with later access to a couple daemons and Tzeentch Chaos warriors.

NPC factions could be really interesting if many of them played by slightly different rules. These could be factions that spring up in the Empire, Kislev, and Cathay under certain circumstances.

Dark Elves and High Elves could have the same thing with Slaneesh cults (rogue ones in the case of Dark Elves), Nurgle cults in appropriate human lands etc.

I just don't want to see Chaos dwarves proper in Hobgoblin lands, full on Daemon hordes placed all over the map right in the center of human nations, and NPC factions in general being the same exact thing without context. Even if it's small like no Slann or Ancient Kroxigors in the Dragon Isles and things like that

There'd be no insinuation of any same sex couple for romantic reasons or otherwise if they want to market it to China. They're very strict on censorship of anything not a heterosexual relationship.

I think that's the point originally trying to be made here. They wouldn't be wives or anything romantic.

The way you did heavy quotations on 'sister' seemed to suggest otherwise.

Cult factions would be awesome! Especially if it led to tough choices on how to manage them rather than them just popping up everywhere.

You're plain rude at this point, but I'll let you in on a little secret : I'm not into women. There, now, can we talk like actual civilized human beings, or do you intend on keeping drooling at the mouth about how same-sex relationships are actually only a sexual fetish ? Because this is your personal view of it, dude, and an excessively creepy one.

Anyways, back to the main point, yes, the trailer shows two people showing a clear display of affection, with the dread of war approaching. You can read it as sisters, close friends or lovers. I choose to read it as lovers because it's badass and tragic and interesting and refreshing. On that subject, there's already same-sex relationships in this very trilogy, it's explictly mentioned that Felicion had a relation with a Norscan chieftess in the Druchii campaign. So it's nothing new or brazen.
