In ProgressCannot start any battle, crashes to desktop

edited February 2022 in Crashes
As the title says, no battles can run when I try to launch them; either prologue, custom, campaign, or benchmark, regardless of what graphic settings I try. Gets a random amount through the loading bar before crashing.
Had no issues in Warhammer II and could comfortably run battles at high-ultra. Tried both windowed & fullscreen modes. Updated drivers & windows and validated game file integrity via steam.

Attached diagnostics/ crash logs.

Same issue. Computer is old laptop but meets minimum specs (did a diagnostic to make sure); have tried absolute minimum performance settings / restarts to no avail.

Also low tech literacy, fairly casual player but long-time fan of TW titles; pre-ordered + pre-loaded TWW3.

Appreciate bugs are to be expected on release day but not being able to play ANY battles (half the game) in a total war game is really quite disappointing I must say.

    Attached my DxDiag.

Instructions to other user above to locate other file types do not work (file layers different), and locating them by another means is probably beyond my technical expertise.

Grateful if someone could pls speedily resolve the issue.

    Hi,

Got the same exact issue as the OP, crashes about less than a 1/3 of the way through the loading screen on battles - except I can't even run the battle benchmark either. Can get into Campaign but crashes loading into first battle, tried a couple factions. No issues with TW1 or 2

I've attached the requested files, except for "Crash log". Inside my "log" folder there's only gfx.logo.txt, and mp_log.txt.

Unlike my "Warhammer2" folder, there's no "crash-report" folder containing .mdmp and .stack.txt files in the "Warhammer3" folder.

Really appreciate if anyone can help resolve the issue, cheers.

Apologies, exactly same issue as @lowbraindog, I realise my initial message was poorly worded.
To confirm, no battles at all can launch, just crashing directly out into the desktop. Doesn’t give any message at all, it just acts like it’s been alt+f4’d.

    Same issue

    - prologue crashes at first battle
    - any campaign plays but crashes at the first attempt at battle
    - same as paperareo " no battles at all can launch, just crashing directly out into the desktop. Doesn’t give any message at all, it just acts like it’s been alt+f4’d."

regardless of settings it crashes, tested and campaign map and benchmark work, battle benchmark instant close, no error message or warning. same with prologue or campaign crash.

Same problem here. The load crashes at the end, and I get a message that my graphics driver timed out

You should be able to drag and drop them onto a forum post on top of the icon "attach file".

    Same issue.

Game closes while loading the battle. No log or crash message appears on the screen its as if it was force quit. For the people who can't find the AppData folder its likely hiding. If you search your hard drive for the creative assembly it will show up.

    Using Steam.

Also same issue as other posters no Crash log in the Logs folder. Uploaded everything that is located there.

Hi all, not sure if its the same problem, but in another thread https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/306309/single-player-campaign-battle-crashes#latest LordCommander figured out that stopping Trusteer Rapport fixed the problem. That sorted it for me and a bunch of others as well. Hope it works for you too.

Hi David_i_a_grant thanks for the info and just wondering how I sort out the Trusteer Rapport as I'm not too computer savvy!! :-)

    Any advice would be great

It will likely be in your system tray (bottom right), revealed when you press the ^ arrow. The icon is a green square with a white arrow. I think you left click, 'stop rapport', enter the code and press 'shutdown'.
It's not a beta, just plays like one.

God bless you David Grant. Closing this worthless Trusteer Rapport app immediately fixed the problem. Cheers! Hope others can find this thread asap.

    Hi Lord Commander

Been looking for the Trusteer Rapport app and can't find it anywhere. There is nothing in the system tray and when I look under programs to try and uninstall it, there is nothing there for Trusteer Rapport. Think I may be losing my marbles here and my patience with CA!!

Any advice would be great but no worries if not :-)

Not everybody has it, possibly unless they use online banking in the UK, so it's probably not the only cause of the situation.

Unless you are certain you have it, it's possible you don't have it installed. However, it's worth checking the system tray to see what you have running in the background as any one of a number of things could be causing a similar problem. Even turning off your firewall temporarily might be worth a go; apparently even windows defender can cause issues.

Hello I have the same problem.
The game works very well in campaign but impossible to make a battle.
I hear the music and the troops but just a black background.
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks Lord Commander, much appreciated and will try the Firewall and Defender idea although pretty frustrated with the radio silence from CA!!
