Completing the quest to rescue Boris in a coop game did not add him to my lord recruitment options.

So I was playing Katarina, and my friend played Miao Ying. I did all the normal requirements to unlock the quest (occupy all three major cities for 10 turns) and did the quest battle for him. during the battle I shared some of my units with my friend and completed it without issues. when the prompt to decide what to do with Boris I picked the 4th option (the one that should put him as a recruitable lord in my pool.) He can't be recruited, several dozen of turns after.

I player 3 other games in solo, and all of them give me Boris, only the coop game didn't

We encountered the exact same problem. My friend was playing Katarin and I was Miao Ying. We did the mission to unlock Boris, but he was not added to the lord pool. We reloaded the game, done the battle again and this time my friend choose to give Erengrad to him (so the faction appears on the map). But that also didn't work.

Seems it's related to being in a co-op game.

I unlocked him in solo but did jot get the achievement so I cannot start a vampaign with him. I redid the battle 3 times and choose all the options and still nothing.

I have encountered the same issue. Friend playing as Cathay, gave a few units for him to control. Completed quest no problem, chose fourth option to have Boris enter recruit pool. He has not shown up in my recruit pool.

Has this been solved? I have Boris unlocked, but my friend doesnt. We want to do a Katarin & Boris duo campaign, but how will the Boris unlock quest work for my friend?

As far as I know, this was resolved in some of the older patches. My friend was definitely able to unlock Boris a few patches in. Things can always go wrong, but I think you're good and this has been fixed completely.
