They get out IE a couple of campaign packs 3 lord packs and that's it. The low DLC sales and poor player retention lead them to canceling any cross game lord packs or map expansions they might have had planned.
Request scorched body textures, and fire death effects. At least 30% of all damage in this game comes from fire sources. Request Fire for the Fire God DLC.
The player retention is like 25% less than total war warhammer 2. while also having double the peak while launching on multiple platforms. Let’s not get ahead of oureslves here.
I'd be laughing as CA don't have any other cash cows anywhere near maturity. 3K2 is far out and probably won't get a better welcome than 3K did, probably won't move DLC any better either. What else is there?
If CA don't want money then fine, whatever, I don't absolutely hate the idea of not giving them any.
I'd be fine with it. So long as the game is left in a stable state and everything promised was delivered (IE, blood).
I think the design of this third game is pretty poor anyway, so if they left the very talented modders a stable platform to work with I'd be happy with it.
The only way WH3 gets left in the dust early is if they end up cannibalizing its playerbase with an even more successful game. 3K suffered significantly by running alongside WH2, and it would take a similarly successful game in the future for WH3 to suffer the same fate.
Id just keep playing.and modding wh2 which is a dream come true.
CA allready delivered a great warhammer game so even if they crash and burn now i gor what i wanted.
It needs to be pointed out that what people call "cheese" is just playing the game the way it actually exists not in some fictional way they think it is supposed to work.
I don't thint it's a possiibility. The reasons why WH3 is disappointing are very concrete and realtively easy to fix, excepting perfomamce.
I mean only way I can see it if warhammer go the same update and dlc spiral like 3k but I doubt
CA gonna want to mess up their dlcs who are they biggest life support
I mean they could keep wh2 alive for 4 years
I hoped for some innovations concerning DLCs, but seeing how things have gone I think CA will keep the past formula of lord packs and some campaign packs, which seems the safest route to success.
I would simply stop buying their games. My current method of buying game is: if I played in previous title, liked it I may buy next title if I like what I see on trailers, but if I didn't like it or I didn't like some developer decision I don't buy it. New game from new developers I only buy on sales, also I don't give a f about reviews.
Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!
When I say abandon I don't mean to move on to another historical game per say since they have different studios for that now. But I could see a scenario where they stop producing content for WH3 and move into full production of Total War Warhammer: Age of Sigmar or Total War Warrhammer 40K

I dont own it until there is a sale or the new mortal empires map appears and even than I dont get it right away, because I dont trust them anymore and the the new ME map will probably be horribly bugged or some other failure.
Edit: they wont abandon it because the white knights still pay for this crap.
3K had issues because they released the game when it wasn't finished with only a few characters.
Rot3K has loads of characters, most of them have fans. That means 100+ unique characters and CA didn't realize that. They would have had massive success if they just released character packs every few months.

If it’s due to low sales…..it is what it is. What exactly am I suppose to be reacting to?
I believe that the player retention might be lower(i dont know if it turly is) now because we only got the narrative campaign. Your casual TWW fan might get tired of the game because all races has the same makro objectives(getting souls) and the objectives forces a certain playstyle upon the player. The hardcore player base of late TWW2 was almost exclusivly ME players.
However when IE dropps and we get the entire fantasy universe open and free to do whatever you want in, i believe that the real TWW3 experience will begin as we shall know it for the years to come.
Lets remember that the TWW2 narrative vortex campaign wasn't the go to for high playtime players looking for a casual campaign either.
The vortex campaign and dlc campaign were fun thematic and narrative focused campaign that realy animated the TWW2 content. But when you have experienced your vortex campaignes ME became the goto because of the more diverse array of races and regions
I hope they won't shut down TWW3, it hasn't realy even begun yet. I for one am going to support this game to the verry end. For me Warhammer fantasy is my favorite fantasy universe and Total War my favorite PC games. This game series will probably be the best of my life
Although shouldn't the real question be what would Sega do? How many games can they lose a bunch of players on, underperform in terms of DLC sales and then abandon, without being shut down?
Not much chance of that happening.... Abandoning 2 games in such short time would be really detrimental to CA's rep and absolutely hit any future sales for games. Not saying they couldn't do it with another game but WH3 is way to close to 3k. Put simply they are exclusively a gaming company and abandoning games on a regular basis would be really bad for them.

But very sad
But hey, stuff like that can happen when you act in a scummy way "aka" releasing a game as fully functional when in reality it´s a early access game
