I hope there are DLCs for this semi-DLC, I love DLCs especially when they're 75% off on Steam:eek:.
Also only announce new game when we start to get bored of FotS :p.
Why is CA so good anyway, why is there no competition:confused: I am annoyed as I can't find any games as good as TW to play :( I can't wait much longer for the Gatling guns!!:P
Will also probably buy from Amazon and pre-order Limited Edition. :)
(Sorry, bit random, but main point is DLC = Good)

Saw this post on the main website and felt strongly enough on the issue that I joined the forums....I really dislike the idea of exclusive bonuses for different retailers, but I can see the marketing logic behind it. However, CA should release them for everyone at a later date! The fanbase of the Total War series seems like it's willing to pay for things like Kawagoe or the Napoleon preorders, and certainly I would. And particularly with Fall of the Samurai, I feel it would be really irritating to have 3 separate clans and then restrict access to them, or force a loyal fanbase to buy three separate copies just to have the whole set, so to speak.
The argument that they would not have been created except as exclusives has a point, but in creating them CA has also created a desire for them, so no matter that the customer isn't losing out on anything that should be in the game, there's always going be a nagging feeling that the game's somehow incomplete (at least, that's how I feel about it).
Please, CA, do what you did with Shogun 2 and release them as DLC at a later date!
Also, do the same for Kawagoe and Napoleon!

Hi there, Yes that is what i and many are thinking and truly want to buy a complete set box with all those 3 dlc special clans, and poster and sound track.. that is on Steam. I dont understand why they cannot make a huge Special ediditon box once again like they did with Napoleon Medieval and Shogun 2 etc etc? :)

Btw didnt understand the "Kawagoe" Have i missed out something lately Andyana? ;)

Related yet not.. is that war room thing ever going to be reopened?
And is Fall going to be integrated into Shogun 2 for people who already have that (Ive read it will be but just makeing sure..)
Also I'll gladly add the 2 other factions packs from Fall (preordered mine on steam) and the preorder Napoleon units (through steam of course) if and when they eventually become available

I don't know if I have those elite regiment units? I bought the Empire/napoleon edition
Own the whole Total War franchise except for S1 and M1

The players have a legit concern about the release of the other special pre-order units in FotS. Many of the best pre-order units for NTW never came out as a DLC so why should they trust you now? If a unit or faction is deemed a pre-order item thats fine. At least give me the opportunity to buy it later. I would not mind the extra cost. And regardless of that stupid poll you will sell a lot more than you think. Releasing this stuff for a price would make the players happy(Scots Greys) and you happy(money)!

1- Exclusivity increases pre-orders. When you get something unique for pre-ordering, you're more likely to do it.
    2- Pre-orders increase sales directly.
2a- Retailers often receive quantities related to their pre-order rate. This means more product available for sale.
2b- Lack of a pre-order makes it easier to miss a release date, which translates into a missed or delayed sale.
3- Sales go into the development house which enables them to continue producing content for their consumers.

This is as straightforward as you can make it. Exclusives help consumers by driving sales that can be used to create more content and games.

The battle of Kawagoe was a bonus with one of the preorders, not sure which one, but for a Japanese history buff like myself it would be great to see it released. I remember the days of Shogun 1 where you got a monstrous amount of interlinked historical campaigns to play through, which were really fun! Us historical enthusiasts have to take our fun where we can ;)

maybe some deeper information about one of the pre order factions (there are 3 of them) so they can help me decide better which type of pre purchase to take. for example telling which special units each faction has. that makes it interesting i have no valuable information now about the pre order content in my opinion :(

The official TW Facebook-page says the journalists will begin to release information in the 2nd february. You might want to wait a little for some more info :)

I don't like Japan-based games so can you make some more DLC with British and French units/ships?

There has to be some exclusivity involved for a pre-order incentive to work for us, the retailer and the customer. As you may have seen in the past, over time it is possible that exclusive pre-order content becomes widely available as DLC.

That would be so nice if were true. What's up with the Napoleon Units? I've missed half of the bonus stuff because the steam just sold me a regular version :\

    It is true.

That you decided to buy on Steam and didn't get the Imperial edition isn't CA or Sega's fault, is it?

Show me where it says 'To get all present and future DLC you must purchase version xxxx of this game'?

Also, with exclusive units for pre order, surely it would make sense for the pre order license to be for a year. After which CA can sell the stuff themselves? It is their intellectual property.

    Not too difficult?

Not it's the problem, it was just an example. If not buying from steam, I still can't get every DLC, just the same that happens for FotS now...

I would like the following released now please as DLC so we have a level playing field for Napoleon Total War :-

    1. Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars
    2. Elite Regiments
    3. All pre-order units.

And later some more/extra units like French middle guard, The Welsh and Scots guards for the British army, and other units for different nations. Oh and some new maps please....Thank you.

Incidentally, adding 'please' to a demand doesn't suddenly make it polite. Not that it's related to anything, just you know, I was thinking that and decided to say it.

its stuff like this that makes people pirate games, i want a full game, so i got 2 choices, buy the game 3 times over (90 bucks), or wait a day after release and get a pirate version with all 3 socalled bonus factions, which should have been in the game from the start, guess which one im going with, really dissapointed as CA is someone i belive is worth supporting, but i had enought with this DLC ****

Well, those exclusive factions don't have any actual impact on the gameplay.

Besides, chances are they will be made available at a later date as a DLC.

At least, that's what they did with the Hattori clan :)

If nothing else, Total War games are worth buying for the replay value alone. Not many games out there can claim to offer you hundreds of hours of different tactical options to be diployed on the battlefield and in the economy.
