I've lost three times versus a specific Cathay vs ogres build in land battle that I've come across a few times. Basically they use a dragon sibling + the ROR longmas to goon my expensive units out and a small box build with highly chevroned peasant spears, one or two jade, and two cannons. Even when I anticipated this build I still lost to it because it's tough trading with the cheap spears, and knoblars get killed fast by talons. Some maps are even worse when they have hills to play on.
I've tried leadbelchers without much luck and I have a hard time defending them versus the air squad. My cav also doesn't do well because they don't get the charge off on the flyers.
I know I could just not choose ogres versus Cathay but I'm curious what the strat should be here anyways.
cathay shouldn't lose to ogres in land battle, but the build you described has some weaknesses taking just 2 cannons. I would take 4 lead belchers and 2 iron blasters, hit the cannons first and then kite them from there. Vs the flying threats you'll need to spread out to a degree and counter charge with an ogre cav unit.

That build will be really bad if they end up going less defensive and sounds micro heavy but I guess I'll consider it, thanks
