The much-anticipated Update 2.0 is here, and it’s a biggie...

Actually, scratch that…it’s HUMUNGOUS! On top of introducing the brand-new Immortal Empires game mode to WARHAMMER III, it also rolls in a massive changelog of improvements to nearly ever area of the game—from the campaigns and multiplayer settings to the UI and visuals of the game. With the arrival of the WARHAMMER I and II Legendary Lords and Factions, the bulk of them have also been lovingly re-engineered for their inclusion in Immortal Empires, as have a huge number of Battle maps also being introduced from the previous games.
  • Here's just a small sampling of the big improvements coming with Update 2.0:
  • Daemon factions will no longer automatically declare war on non-Daemon factions
  • Alongside Attack and Defend requests, you can now ask Allies to Occupy settlements (including colonising ruins)
  • We’ve rebalanced Confederation, so it’s harder to confederate minor factions but easier to confederate major ones
  • We’ve completely overhauled the front-end and faction-select UI for improved usability
  • On the Battle side, we’ve improved the Battle AI’s capture-point behaviour, its target priority regarding barricades and enemy units, and the effectiveness of its melee and ranged-unit positioning
  • We’ve adjusted reload-time reductions for ranged units so they’re easier to understand and don’t scale to the point where stacked reload-reduction buffs make ranged units overperform outrageously
  • Most WARHAMMER I and II factions have undergone some level of overhauling for Immortal Empires—some to a lesser and some to a greater extent—with years of tweaks and balance ahead for the game mode!
You can check out all ~18,000 words of the 2.0 release notes on the official Total War blog:

UP NEXT...

This release represents a huge step forward for Total War: WARHAMMER III, and we will be working alongside the community to determine the areas where it can continue to evolve and grow in the months and years to come. We want to understand your impressions on things like the balance between factions, trends you’re spotting across the campaigns you play, or anything that just rubs you the wrong way. Our official channels are open to (healthy) discussion, debate, and (yes, even) criticism, so take the time to play with the changes, organize your thoughts, and then work with others to build consensus around what you'd like to see evolve in the game.

To that end, there are a few key places where we’ll be looking for your commentary and reports:

While there will be room for Hotfixes in the event of any critical issues, the first planned release is UPDATE 2.1, which is already scheduled to arrive two weeks (September 6). Note that this WILL NOT include any fixes or responses to any immediate reports we receive; rather, it includes several critical changes and fixes based on early access feedback that we want to implement sooner than later. Due to testing and release timelines, they unfortunately could not be included in Update 2.0; nonetheless, you can look for them in their own build soon.

Come early October, you can look forward to UPDATE 2.2: the first planned release to include adjustments based on your feedback and reports. We’re less certain what this build will include—since it will be based on your experiences in this first month—but we’ll be watching closely to see where the most impactful tweaks can be made for the most people. We do know we'll be adding some startpos adjustments for a few Legendary Lords such as Teclis, Skrag, Kairos and Alith Anar based on initial feedback.

HAVE FUN!

We hope you enjoy Immortal Empires, the Champions of Chaos, Blood for the Blood God, and everything Update 2.0 has to offer! Remember to let us know if you encounter any issues and to follow our social channels (below) for the latest about Total War: WARHAMMER III.

See you on the battlefield!

Nice we also know when we are getting 2.1 ! And after that based on our reprots 2.2 ! Downloading the update now !
Reminder - 2.1 Has 1 RoR for everyone (from the roadmap).
Question:Presumably you’ve needed to create a huge number of new Daemon units to properly flesh them out and give them their own armies?
Answer:IR: What you’ve just said is so true,

Really pleasantly surprised that there are changes related to AI, since nothing was ever said about that topic at all during the past months. And the change list is actually pretty impressive. Best part is that you say you plan to keep working on it. For me this is by far the best part of this patch.

Please fix the settlement auto building construction feature: https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/310602/auto-construct

Remove agents/heroes from the campaign map like Three Kingdoms did. They are not fun and only serve to make the game more tedious. Nobody finishes campaigns because of how tedious the late game becomes with things like this to manage every turn.

    Grudges:

6 years old Lord of Change with unimpressive animations. CA hid the exalted one until launch and lied that it was like Kairos's: https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/qak83o/so_turns_out_the_lord_of_change_in_the_trailer/.

CA put the Champions of Chaos LLs in WoC instead of monogods to save money on unique campaign mechanics

Tzeentch Doom Knights won't get new models in 2.1. All that is new is helmet, cloak, besagews and weapons. Which means that torso, pauldrons, arms and legs, that is majority of the model, are borrowed from the old WoC Chosen model.

It is noble and just to buff dragons!

CA, add Manticore and Griffon mounts to Masters and Nobles respectively.

Chaos factions should totally be at war with almost everyone automatically (sans Norsca).

They're trying to plunge the entire world into the Warp ****; or in the case of the beastmen: destroy everything.

I saw something under ambushes that said they were updated for the new "withdraw" mechanic? What changed about withdraw in WH3?
  • Stephince#6150Stephince#6150 Registered Users Posts: 3,398
    I've never heard of withdraw.

anyone else had bug on race selection of unit stats being buffed super high on some stats?
CA please give us Shogun Multi layer wall Sieges back along with Roles/Fog of war we want EPIC sieges!! 'personally i think the 3 kingdoms style of building armies is the best for balance alongside stronger unit roles and larger unit sizes' also allowing Chars too specialise in range/siege in particular in skills/traits..

Any idea when the Assembly Kit was going out? We had been told during this release, but still no...

It's gimping most of the best mods out there. Come on guys, it's been over half a year since launch; We normally have the modkits out within half a month.

Restart was not fixing it, but after sometimes it has unblocked automatically.

It's mentioned in the blog post. Either 2.1 or 2.2. Just be patient, there's a good chap.

We continue with the same frequency of the horrible minor settlement battles.

We continue with the absurd tower constructions in the middle of the battles.

And we continue with a joint queue of domination and land battles, instead of separating them and letting everyone play the way they like.

I'll still not play the game then from the looks of it.

    Life goes on...

Could not agree more, this latest DLC and all upcoming DLC will remain unpurchased as long as the horrendous tower defense construction remains unattended. If at least some of the features from my prev post are added i might start supporting this game again

Thank you for that (Why they would bury that below several pages of text is beyond me).

Still extremely disconcerting that it isn't out and in the wild yet, and frankly, doesn't have a set release date planned, beyond "sometimes after at least September 6th". I have no idea why CA has been so incredibly lethargic with mod support this time around.

games too easy on Legendary CA. Please consider giving the AI some of their cheats back and increase anti player bias.

Request scorched body textures, and fire death effects. At least 30% of all damage in this game comes from fire sources. Request Fire for the Fire God DLC.

So many people didn’t like tha AI attacking them and wanted anti-player bias removed.
    They got their wish.

It was not about removing the anti-player bias but to reduce it which CA did. It didn't make any sense that Cathay armies were travelling around the world to attack you as Ogre Kingdom in the empire.

This is irony, isn't it? Otherwise I don't understand the meme.

Haven't actually sat down with an intent to play the campaign yet but have just been looking around at different areas of the IE map. Nothing is ever perfect and while I would have wished for slightly larger areas here and there by and large it is still a very, VERY good map. Not to mention as far as the aesthetic goes, the way it is much less a flat terrained map like the old ME map and contains so much more in terms of extra little stuff on it makes it a thing of beauty.

I didn't hate the ME map but I did dislike it. I am so very pleased that I am going to be playing for years to come on a map I truly enjoy and that still has room to make me even more giddish.
