If Immortal Empires becomes a massive success, CA should consider naval battles

As the title suggest, I think CA should consider it. I don't know how much bigger they can make the campaign map but, more a little more ocean between Ulthan and other continents would be amazing. I would love to get a Rome 2 style battle maps with naval landings and sieges. Not to mention the piracy that could be commited on the open seas.

I understand the difficulty of adding this since it would require a lot of resources for mechanics, new assets etc. Perhaps start with some marketing research to see if there is sufficent interest for it?

It’s worth a thought as they could market it almost like a race pack and add naval battles into the game. Gives them another Avenue to expand into for when they burn through most of the content as another source of income for the game.

IMHO naval battles should be left just for historic Total War games, there's no naval warfare in tabletop Warhammer Fantasy..

Theoratically I get the point that there are no naval battles in tabletob, but in my opinion they would be just logical. Every time fighting on an island isn't That bad, but naval battles would add so much to the game! Even the design of the different ships that are in the game at the moment are gorgeous.

It's not just naval battles that would add more to the game, but also naval landings. We already have quests battles where Karl Franz and The Fey Enchantress would fend off invading maurauders that arrive by ships. I don't know about other players but I like the idea of sinking a ship with the Comet of Cassandora before it reaches the shore.

Warhammer 3 could easily expand upon the ideas from Rome 2.

Wasn't there a fantasy naval spinoff game once upon a time? Similar to how 40k had BFG?

Are you talking about Man O'War Corsair?

I don't think there ever was a Warhammer RTS about naval battles, but there was a board game called Dreadfleet. There is plenty of material to gather inspiration from if CA wants to add navy battles :) .
