The Ogre Kingdoms Artillery and Lead Belchers are rather underwhelming....
I was expecting the Ironblaster to sound like a WW1 artillery gun, by the looks of it... it's bloody huge... almost like a Queen Bess. It should have the destructive power of the queen bess.

Sadly I think the Ogres are going to get the Norsca treatment.
Maybe, but consider CA needs to deal with a number of issues. I am sure they heard us loud and clear, but they need to prioritise. The ogres ARE playable, just not quite where we (?) would like them to be. Most of the suggestions I read are straight up power buffs to the point they'd become massively OP. As much as I'd like CA to have a magic wand and perfect design ideas all the time, reality is messay and takes time. Have some patience.
Sadly I think the Ogres are going to get the Norsca treatment.
Have half their roster use another factions model instead of something unique to their own and then most likely have dlc focus on completely different cultures adding units and characters for them instead of their own? Not likely. The next lordpack will probably add a generic Hunter lord, bruiser hero, yheetee's, thundertusk, and another unit
I would love them to give Greasus a whole rework and make him less comical.
He needs to be alot faster and stronger, with more abilities representing the fear he put in his enemy and his leadership over ogres
Visually I'd like him to look intimidating , for his strength and wealth to be shown more and I think I'd actually prefer them to just make him a foot lord at this point without his cart and let him keep up with his units, but if they do keep his cart make it more impressive, blinged out with all his amassed treasure.
I also want them to make gnoblars look like the amazing mod thats out now giving them larger noses and smaller eyes to better represent them
Wheelbarrow. Wheelbarrow says it all about what CA did to the ogres.
It needs to be pointed out that what people call "cheese" is just playing the game the way it actually exists not in some fictional way they think it is supposed to work.
Sadly I think the Ogres are going to get the Norsca treatment.

I meant in terms of being neglected for a long period of time.
It’s good that people point out the issues of the Ogres. They are the worst implemented race in the game right now and need a lot of work.
Let’s hope CA listens and fixes them. I just fear that they will suffer the same faith as WoC and have to wait a millennia for their already much needed rework.
You would imagine that CA learns out of their mistakes but 2016 says hello, it’s BM 2.0 all over again.
Camps are mostly fine I think. They are literally camps. Not mobile fortresses with magical defences roving the seas. Instead of removing the limit on camps, maybe they should just limit black arks. CA probably saw how people cheese with black arks and overcorrected on camps. I do agree that the contracts were not as thought out. Especially in the chaos realms campaign. Like, who has time to go whack some guy a third of the map away for 1500 gold? If it is 15 moves away, and your army is 3000 upkeep, that is 45,000 upkeep.
Ogre camps would be broken entirely if they were like Black Arks.
I felt like Ogres seemed pretty solid. They just aren't crazy OP or have mechanics that are I-WIN! buttons.
The sneaky ogres kind of sucked though.
But other than that my only real complaints are that Greasus does feel and look a bit lame; and butcheryboy's start position is crap.
The faction performs pretty solid though, I thought (Greasus does suck tho). I don't find anything wrong with how the camps work, either.
The ogrs are terrible. Contracts are terrible, names are terrible, camps are terrible.
Skill trees for the LLs are also terrible, especially Skrag. Generic lords and heroes skill trees are surprisingly good though compared to the other WH3 races.
Oh no, as much as I like you and your posts, I slightly disagree. Greasus is also in a terrible spot (worse imho) and has weak and laughable only four unique skills. Look at other lords, even FLC-ones - Imrik has a perfect skill tree with 7 (as I remeber) unique skills and is also very strong. Greasus should have at least 2 more unique skills and be a melee powerhouse. Talent that would give him 20% resistance (layers of fat as natural armor) to missiles would be also neat.
Greasus is the worst LL in the game.
Change my mind.
He's fine if you can lock down missle units and protect him against chaff. He also has a great personality.

Camps have to be moveable. Right now they are completely useless and not worth to spend any money on them. Them Being stationary made sense in RoC where you only had like 3-6 provinces but in IE they doesn’t work anymore.
As Skrag I want to migrate back to the great maw for example… so all the camps I build until I get there are a waste of money.
Also these Ogre Camp Lords are just pointless. CA has to complete rethink how Camps work because the current implementation is just atrociously bad.
I cannot fathom why literal nomadic camps can't be moved like every horde, pirate ship, or black ark in the game.
It would be so cool and thematic, and nice to have an actual camp to defend and fall back to unlike encampment stance which does nothing on the battle map.
I want to play the Ogres but I keep reading that the camps are their biggest problem. It sucks since it's the main thing that gives them their identity and flavor.

Greasus' model has to be one of the ugliest in the game right now
I get it that it was hard to animate his Gnoblar throne, but currently he just looks like a disabled, shiny Ogre. Seriously, Skraag looks better, i even like Ghorst more, Greasus just looks really ugly and his animations make him look like a looney toons side character. By far this is the worst model in game imho and i hope CA will add a gnoblar throne/palanquin/seat to him in order to make him feel more powerful, rich and respected, not put him on a go kart on which he looks silly as hell
end of quote. I just wanted to add another thing - Greasus is supposed to be the fattest (and thus probably the biggest too) Ogre around, but he isn't bigger than regular tyrant. I saw a comparison and Greasus is too small!
Camps should have 3 times the radius if they are not to become movable, also why aren't gnoblars an emergency food option? disbanding them should turn then into food, even if just a little and its totally lore friendly.
As for greasus.. I dislike that blubber on wheels so much.. waiting for a new LL to really try and finish a campaign, the butcher lad is .. ok but his starting location in the mini-campaign is ass and in the sandbox one its kinda meh, I want a melee focused ogre on a mount (not a hunter)
They also must, i think, make more differences between ironguts, gorgers and maneaters. Gorger, for example, fighting with claws, why they have so much AP ? Make them 80 base/40 ap damage ambusher "chaos spawn like" squad. Ironguts feel most likely worse maneaters but armored, maybe buff them WS and CB for being armored schock troops. Maneeaters are so weird because they are almost naked ogres with high MA/MD designed for sustain combat maybe buff MA and MD even more, but they are still will suffer so much from enemy ranged units and generic spearmen, i don't know.
Okay, this was the biggest blog entry and update in a long time and apparently Ogres got unlimited camps. Hmm, it probably fixes like... 1-5% of their problems. Of course I'll continue this little compilation.
Funny thing is that probably now - after Ghal Maraz buff - Karl Franz hits much harder than Greasus.
I'm not angry or sarcastic, it was just funny when I read the blog and devs say that they want to reflect Ghal Maraz's status in lore etc so they buffed it. No problem, the Scepter of the Titans can be next.
Big names need a rework and a massive buff. I personally think that the way to go at it is to make achieving them harder but increase the reward. Boommaker and Gnoblarkicker are what every name should in term of utility/theme/power but they are too easy to achieve at the moment. I feel like its also important to mitigate the negative impact of rng because now you gotta fish for good traits and good names both which doubles the pain. I also think that Tyrants should have access to multiple names at higher level and I agree that Greasus should have the ability to equip all of them, perhaps the skill tree is the answer there. Speaking about the LL Big Names, those need serious work as well as they are supposed to be better but they are actually often worse than what the generic Tyrant get....
Contracts really don't work in their current form as you highlighted. There is a million different way to fix them and yours appears to be a good one. I'm honestly open to anything on CA's part because there little I am attached with, nearly everything would better than this
Camps need an overhaul as they have nearly as many problems as contracts. They are supposed to be some kind of mobile base for a nomadic race but they end up not working well. You either make perm camp you never destroy or use them as upkeep reduction centers and meat dispenser. The fact that you get nothing back from destroying a tier 5 camp is straight ****, so much for being nomadic. They are also supposed to automatically raid the region around them but the mechanic is so weak that it might as well not exists. The hard cap of the number is painful late game as whoever tested the Ogre clearly wasn't into map painting. I like the idea of camps and its clearly a powerful mechanic when you abuse the upkeep reduction it give but that's pretty much all there is to it and its a damn shame.
Gnoblars shouldn't cost meat, if anything having a Gnoblar in your army when you run out of meat should prevent attrition of your ogre at the cost of one of your Gnoblar getting destroyed
Each legendary lord should get its own unique 'Mega feast' option. Armor for Ghark, Leadership for Greasus, Frenzy for Skrag, Post battle loot for Golgfag, ... something to make the mechanic more unique.
Ogre need better capture weight in Domination and their battle prowess also need to be looked at. Being an all large low entity army leads to them being super easy to countered by actual players and they are one of the weakest faction out right now. Some of it won't be fixable without new units but some can.
Im not sure Greasus needs other mounts but he certainly needs something. A massive leadership boost and Immune to psychology for example could also do it. I'd love to have some near unbreakable elite ogre stack with him at the center for example. Ghark is more the mount guy anyway
It would be really nice if Ogre lords & unmounted characters - and especially Greasus - would have more reach than a baby Skaven.
They can't hit ****. Because their animations don't allow them to. Especially Greasus, of which the hobbo Santa look is extremely fun but makes him the worst of all despite very nice combat stats.
It baffles me that they still haven't touched this.
Hey hey hey, the dream about better Ogres still lives! This time its @Epicentrist on reddit:
I adore playing the ogres, especially the big beefy cav, even though they are a pretty barebones faction in terms of content they're one of my favourites. However
Their legendary Lords are just awful, scrag is OK if you go gorger spam, but is just a kinda worse slaughter master.
Greasus is just garbage, all he does is hits hard when he can scoot over to an enemy. His speed makes him work so counter to the rest of his faction that are above 50.
I do feel for CA here though, his too fat to walk trait makes it tricky to make him work. The gnoblar swarm that's supposed to carry him would be next to impossible to implement, so I understand the odd scooter they went with. I use the amazing reskin mod that makes him more of a beefy tyrant with the same speed, but this seems to go against all his lore His buffs and debuffs seem really bad, single target debuffs are extremely low impact on a slow lord. Immune to psychology is nice but it's hard to keep him nearby to your bulls due to speed. How would you fix our large boy?
They need work its true, but its not as much as people think. Camps for example, won't take that much to improve them. Same thing with contracts.
The roster is also pretty solid. Honestly what they really need more than a rework is a dlc - 2 more LL starts would make a massive difference. Add a few units and Ogres would be great. They are already fun even with the issues. And a minor rework for camps and contracts plus the special mechanics for the 2 new lords and they would be in a great spot.
Greasy though does need some help - not sure what to do with him.
I really can’t for the life of me motivate myself to play Ogres… both Greasus and Skrag are incredibly bland characters and the mechanics are just… cheap and simply not good.
Especially Greasus is just so incredibly bad from a stat and design pov. He looks terrible and performs mediocre. Worst LL in the game right now.
Golgfag and a rework for the chunky boys can’t come soon enough honestly. It’s just so sad to see how CA butchered my beloved Ogres…

The same way Grom deals with the problem. Chariot.
He can start out in his little cart, but when you reach a high enough level, let him unlock a modified Ironblaster wagon that hauls him around instead of a huge cannon.

There were so many better ways to implement Greasus without the Gnoblar carpet. They could’ve pulled a Mazdamundi and put his throne on top of a Stonehorn for example. But the current implementation is just bad.

I disagree with putting him on a stonehorn, as that feels like how CA was balancing bad lords in game 2. "Oh this lord is weak, so we just put him on a mount and it's fine" rather than actually trying to make creative changes.

I tend to agree. I hate what they did back then. But it would still be better than his scooter in my opinion.
There's not really a solution worse than the present situation, where he's a wimpy old fart on a wheelbarrow that has awful animations and therefore don't hit anything, presents an enjoyably big target to enemies of all kinds, and has just enough speed to keep up with zombies.
Greasus going broke and getting back on his feet again is better. Greasus buying some rhinox and putting them in front of his wheelbarrow to at least keep up with regular ogres is better. Even just giving him a better wheelbarrow where he's standing and has a wider attack animation reach is way better.
Greasus has the worst design in the whole game, the wheelbarrow makes him look so dumb and pathetic. I just watched the trailer again and he feels completely out of place, can't they give him a throne like Ku'gath carried by Gnoblars? Something pure gold and over the top full with gems to show how ridiculous rich he is.
I disagree with putting him on a stonehorn, as that feels like how CA was balancing bad lords in game 2. "Oh this lord is weak, so we just put him on a mount and it's fine"
And that IS fine. Unless they have some lore aversion to it, putting LLs on a big monster is a cool and good idea.
It always seems weird to me that Tyrion is like "I have a dozen elf princes riding dragons under my command, but I'm okay with just a horse."
"Assassination's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it."

Well actually in Lore Greasus whas carried by Gnoblars. It whas part of him being so fat and influentual, that he can have a horde of Gnoblar carrying him wherever he want. Seemed like ca found it to difficult put him on hundreds of Gnoblar. But yeah currently Ogrekingdoms are my most hated race despite being my faourite race in TT. Why can have the Skaven, another big glutton race, a global mechanic and being fine while the Ogre need each army to take care of. This together that even Gnoblar take food turned TWIII one of the biggest disapointments for me and I agree with that the Ogres need a total rework.
