Idea for a fix so we can peace out of wars

Currently, being at war with a faction is a very serious diplomatic detriment and hence it's usually not possible to peace out.
My suggestion would be to have being at war with a given faction to start out being a -50 relations, but have it just naturally dissipate over time to represent war fatigue.
