Crash to desktop when going into character screen

The game keeps crashing whenever I try to open a character screen in both campaign modes.
No mods are in use, and it happens with multiple races (both TW 3 races, and older races)

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Do you have any saved characters from previous builds?

This all happened in fresh campaigns on turn 1.
My old saves I can no longer open as they use a mod that's been broken (and removed from steam)

Did you save any characters - they're in a separate folder from the games themselves?

You mean the save that allows you to reuse a character in multiplayer and such?
No I have none of those.
