AI retreating though circle of influence

Hello,

My friend and I are playing a campaign on WH3 and we've noticed some issues with AI retreating from battles. My friend went to initiate a battle near the right side of the bridge connecting to Mousillon, the enemy being on the right side and my friend going to initiate the battle on the left side so that the AI wouldn't retreat across the bridge. The AI retreated through my friend's area of influence and went over the bridge and around the river. The next turn comes up and this move would take my friend's entire movement range to get to where the AI retreated. Seems like the AI negate any areas of influence and have far too much movement range when retreating.
