Honestly good. One game got released in a really bad state with dlc nowhere near ready for half a year while the other got released in a great polished state with Dlc announced right away.
If TWW3 got released next year they’ve could’ve rolled out a much better project than this that deserved the GotY title. But as is, best they don’t get rewarded for a rushed buggy unoptimized product for the sake of future titles.
Not defending CA losing but I think its stupid Sim and Strategy is in the same category.
Both categories numerically no one cares about.
Anyway all anyone ever does on these forums is talk about how bad Warhammer 3 is so why would they win?
Extractor fans.
I am The Beast of Guanyin, The one who beasts 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, Vanilla Gorilla, The great bright delight, Conqueror of Mountains, Purveyor of wisdom, Official forum historian, Master Tamer of energy, the one they fear to name, Beastradamus, The Teacher, Master Unbiased Pollster, The Avatar of Tuesday, Chief hype Train Conductor, Uwu Usurper, Pog Wog Warrior, Poggers Patroller, Alpha of the species, Apex protector, Praetor of Positivity, Drybrush Disciple, Sophisticated Savage.
Can anyone really say WH3 deserved an award? It's more of the same from the past games, offers little in terms of new gameplay, fails to fix existing problems and introduces new ones.
Total War has become the COD or Madden of strategy games. Just churn out the same product with a higher number on the cover and demand money.
The only award that matters is “Labor of Love”, and should be given to Deep Rock Galactic.
Rock’n Stone!
Stellaris. Just two DLCs this year but a lot of major patchwork done with very good changes and you could see that the Custodian team had a lot of fun improving stuff.

I win.

That just released this year, so not really "Labor of Love" category which should be a older title still getting love Or if you insist that age does not play a role, we could just topple your "Dwarf Fortress" with "Vampire Survivors".
Was anyone else expecting a different outcome? The Game Awards are a popularity contest first and foremost, Mario + Rabbids is a collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft using some of their most iconic IPs (Mario and Rabbids), it was obvious from the first moment that they revealed the nominees that it would go to Mario + Rabbids.

It began development in 2003. "Labor of love" fits it like a glove.

Not to mention it's a popularity contest where you actually need fans to get out and do something. I didn't bother, but one thing about the rabbids group. They are rabbid and they do like to turn out for online things and ze memes. Slather on a lil mario and I bet a chunk of people voted for that without ever having actually played the game.
yeah no, the state WH3 launched in and where it currently is in its life cycle isn't award worthy. Sorry any CA staffers reading this, maybe it's not your fault but it sure is your company/publishers'
Request scorched body textures, and fire death effects. At least 30% of all damage in this game comes from fire sources. Request Fire for the Fire God DLC.

The funny thing is TW:WH2 lost to the original Mario + Rabbids when it was up for the same award.
You expect a game with 70% positive reviews to win awards? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
80% recent positive

And the award for pre-alpha demo debacle goes toooooooo....?
Hyperbole.

Lunch WH2 wasn't that impressive either.

Anyway I don't care much about these awards. I just enjoy games I enjoy.
