CA - “we are working on cool new stuff for the game, and we are going over the game to fix and make things better.”

    Community - “ waaaaahhh, I want a roadmap”

This community wants a piece of PR advertising more than they want the content.
    I am flabbergasted.

Nah, I want proof that when CA promises something they intend to keep their word.

And by the way, during Wh3 calamitous marketing campaign you used the same arguments to attack those complainkng about it. And it turned Wh3 has been worst than even the most pessimistic people could have expected.

This really isn't helpful. Yes, there are toxic fans, yes they can be annoying, but you don't beat them by adding to the toxicity.

Really encouraged by this uptick in communication, thank you CA, even if there isn't anything new to reveal, a status check is still v much appreciated.

Please please correct the MP ladder, add some good maps in there and look at balancing please.

Also the Land Battle with Cap mod mode is absolutely something to make official it will help the game so much

Ca the only company who needs half a year + to make a second roadmap. Maybe. We don’t know if we ever get the roadmap. Best is to let your community wait to delay it again at the end of the month you planed to release it.

It’s so uncomfortable to give fans a roadmap. I really can understand it.

It’s uncomfortable to wait for a thing you wanted to make last year and delay and delay and delay. I'll never expect your roadmap ever to show up.

And really i don’t believe that 3.0 will be "the the game’s most engaging and in-depth content drop ever."

See ya all in April to get next delay of the roadmap.

    Seriously. This.

For real. Just give us a Roadmap that IS comfortable. If not for a year, give us 6 months. If not that, then the next 3 months. Just give us an actual map of what's coming! Something better than FIVE BLOODY MONTHS of delays! That's what's so ridiculous. Being told by December we'd have a Roadmap! then told it would wait until after the Holiday break. then told it was delayed AGAIN until February... only to be told. "LOL! Sorry, we're too busy so it'll be after the DLC drops in April."

Do you think it’s possible the stuff that they’re working on, which supplies the road map with content, maybe the thing they’ve been working on over the last 6 months? Could that possibly be a more reasonable state of affairs or do you actually believe they’re finding it tricky to make a few art pieces and a list?

It will be a roadmap straight to the garbage bin.

Months to make this short post.

Half a years delay on even getting a roadmap?

And ppl are telling me I’m crazy to think that CA is looking for a way out of WH3

Yeah. You're right. CA hates money and success so will cancel the game this Tuesday!

lmao oh man I found a post on Reddit that perfectly sums this all up

Request scorched body textures, and fire death effects. At least 30% of all damage in this game comes from fire sources. Request Fire for the Fire God DLC.

Wasn’t 3k the most successful total war ever by that metric?

Just two more delays and they can rename the Roadmap 2023 in "Review 2023".

Initially, CA have always said that if a game remains successful and people by the DLCs they will support it. WH and 3K are different in that sense. They don’t just randomly give up supporting projects that make them money.

I don't really care about the roadmap, as I figured the video from Rich had replaced it, but it seems weird that they 1. brought it back up, 2. they delayed it again, and 3. Put it 2 months later after what is probably going to be the biggest of the 3 dlcs this year.

I'm not worried about the game, but that is a tad... odd to say the least.

The delay is likely because they are deciding when exactly the last DLC of the year will hit; if it will make the 2023 deadline.

They already said it will be in 2023 so prople will be mad if it isn't the case, roadmap or not.

That's probably correct - but they could have just said Q4 2023 / Q1 2024 and that would have been fine.

3k had an excellent launch but it’s DLCs failed to bring back players or at least keep them playing. That’s why the game got axed. DLCs all flopped and CA decided that supporting the game wasn’t worth it anymore.

WH3 had a successful launch but didn’t reach the Expectations of the higher ups.

Sega/CA underestimated the importance of IE and how flawed RoC was/is. That’s why their sales expectations were unrealistic.

It again boils down to the Higher ups making wrong decisions and having no clue what they are doing.

sad thing is this could have been a legendary game akin to Skyrim for Bethesda or Elden Ring for FromSoft. If they had put the resources behind it. Outsourced to outside studios to keep the content flowing. Regular monthly content updates either FLC or DLC.

WH3 will eventually reach the legendary status that WH2 reached after years and years of content. But that takes time.

But TW games will never reach a level of popularity that RPG games get. Just look at Hogwarts… it’s already easily the game of the year (just like Elden Ring was last year). Personally Hogwarts gives me RPG vibes that I didn’t had since Witcher 3. the atmosphere, the world, the narrative… it’s so damn good.

Personally I never played Elden Ring and don’t like Souls-like Games. But action RPGs are simply the most successful and popular games these days.

WH3 already has considerably more content than WH2. Moreover, the zenith of WH2 in player numbers did not coincide with its maximum content available.

come on now. Dark Souls was the literal definition of niche game. That's not an excuse. Consumers recognize quality and value no matter what the genre is.

If CA had decided to invest in WH3 instead of trying to do some shady "Quick lets milk the customers as much as we can before this ride ends" it would have retained at least half of that 100K player base. But no immortal empires. Unfinished product at launch filled with bugs and design flaws. A year in and barely any support outside of one frankly overpriced DLC.

I'll buy Hogwarts in a year when its half the price with half the bugs and double the DLC like I do every game now. No more buying day/week/month 1

I never paid much attention on Souls games tbh but I think they had a similar evolution like the Witcher games. That’s why the hype was so big for Elden Ring.

I only played the first Souls game and quit after like 2 hours. I simply don’t like it.

The first one is more brutal and unforgiving than DS3 and ER. I haven't played DS2 but if you see DS3 on sale sometime I'd recommend giving the franchise another chance.

tbh I kinda wish they'd get rid of teleporting but now that ER is the size it is I can understand why they went this direction but the map design in DS1 was absolutely genius. Each segment of the game connecting back to the hub area and each other via secret passages and short cuts.

I honestly considered buying ER a couple of times after reading and hearing so overly possible reactions.

But I‘m not really a fan of unforgiving boss fights where I need 20 attempts to barely make it. These things mostly end in me dropping the game out of frustration.
And the most frustrating thing in Dark Souls 1 was to start the whole level again every time I died.

I also didn’t like the world building, it felt kinda empty compared to games like Witcher and Skyrim.

If ER will ever be on sale, I might give it a try. And if I realise that I still don’t like it, I can easily refund it.

But action RPGs are simply the most successful and popular games these days.
come on now.

I don’t know how and why these games became so popular. But they did… somehow.

The story is made vague on purpose. The entirety of it is communicated via environmental storytelling and it's frankly writing and level design that's far above what a pleb like me could imagine. Think of it. EVERYTHING in Dark Souls has meaningful significance to the story. They even managed to weave the very gameplay mechanics of respawning after death, and having multiplayer duels into the story in such a masterful way that you never once break immersion. I want to quote something from J. R. R. Tolkien right now.

Every time I fight a siege battle in WH3 and see the supply points system and pop up towers and capture points all over the map I'm immediately taken out of this fantasy world we know as warhammer and I'm reminded it's a video game.

In Dark Souls even the messages you leave on the floor for other players to read and appraise have a loreful purpose for existing. I know a lot of people don't like way Dark Souls and ER tell their stories but it's really quite the masterpiece in my opinion. And it created an entire sub community of lore freaks who dive deep into the game and overanalyze everything from a broken chair in the corner of a room to the middle name of some obscure NPC that sells generic items. They come up with theories and evaluate with each other the merit of each and likelihood of being true based on either complementary or competing evidence.

Request scorched body textures, and fire death effects. At least 30% of all damage in this game comes from fire sources. Request Fire for the Fire God DLC.

That sounds indeed absolutely fascinating and matched with what I heard about the game. Thanks for sharing that! Maybe I should really give it a try!

There's a lore youtuber called vaatividya, he does such a good job compiling the lore and presenting it in an interesting way with complimentary visuals. I understand when people say they don't like the Souls series, i didn't like it at first either and quit shortly after the Asylum. But I'm glad I forced myself to give it another try because they really did impact me in a way few other games have. I'd unironically call them art.

And don't worry about spoilers, I found that watching the lore videos first gave greater context to what i was doing while playing the game and only heightened my enjoyment of it.
