Iconic is whatever you think is iconic, not what a few WH ‘experts’ think.
Iconic is whatever most people think is iconic.
Not really. That's too loose a definition.
I am The Beast of Guanyin, The one who beasts 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, Vanilla Gorilla, The great bright delight, Conqueror of Mountains, Purveyor of wisdom, Official forum historian, Master Tamer of energy, the one they fear to name, Beastradamus, The Teacher, Master Unbiased Pollster, The Avatar of Tuesday, Chief hype Train Conductor, Uwu Usurper, Pog Wog Warrior, Poggers Patroller, Alpha of the species, Apex protector, Praetor of Positivity, Drybrush Disciple, Sophisticated Savage.
Iconic is a loose term because it can be used over varying contexts including personal choice.
Take it up with Rich. He's the one that used the term.
So? You used the word most and it’s pretty obvious that the cover boy for WHFB would be the widest known so, Karl Franz is iconic because ‘most’ people would’ve seen him. I wasn’t into WH but I always knew who Karl Franz was.
With that said, there’s no sign of the word ‘most’ in the definition so in that sense you’re wrong anyway.
Take what up with Rich? I made a statement of fact not a complaint. Without context iconic is a loose term - fact.

You're misinterpreting the use of 'most'. It's not 'the character that is considered iconic by the most people'. It's 'any character most people consider to be iconic'.
Most people would consider Nagash to be iconic. Most people would consider Thanquol to be iconic. I don't think most people consider Tamurkhan to be iconic.
"Assassination's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it."

But as was stated, iconic exists over multiple contexts so, this idea of ‘most’ is made up by you. Sure, you can change the meaning of iconic if you like or you can even pretend to know what ‘most’ people think but, that’s all it is.
As a big skaven fan, for me Verminlords as the Avatar of the Horned Rat are also very iconic.
But there are other beside the ones that were already mentioned like Crom the Conqueror and Egrimm van Horstmann or Bertrand the Brigant and his side kicks.
For me the only good pick would be Nagash, whom is a major antagonist and fit well with a much needed VC rework. And so Norsca can get theirs in the next DLC alongside a new LL.
I don't like when the word iconic is thrown around because what I think is an icon may not come to mind for someone else.

Can anyone tell me the ‘icon of my childhood’, what represents something in my experience better than I? Of course not.
Now, a person in here can narrow those contexts but that wasn’t done at the beginning of the thread, so all the definitions and contexts can be used.

2 · 1Disagree 2AgreeThe question was ‘what do you think is iconic?’ Which indeed could be anything.
In the era of AoS I’d say a lot of WHFB is iconic.
Queek/Clan Mors, the icon of Skaven evolution.

0 · Disagree AgreeI also think Tarmukhan is pretty iconic, like most who get their own major book and game release within an overall iconic setting.
