Campaign camera breaks the game

By turn 1 , everything is normal, but as the game goes on I slowly lose the ability to zoom IN on the campaign map in IE.
By turn 80+ I can hardly see what I am doing anymore.
Found the issue in other posts from 2022, but with no solution.
I have tried reinstalling steam / the game, added "Better campaign camera mod", messed around in graphic options, but with no result.
Any ideas?
