Right now more wishful thinking than real evidence. Guy on a horse with a sword and shield covers most of human military history lol. Would also think that motion capture should of happened a while ago if this is for the next mainline title and the estimates of release late this year or early next are right.
-an expert in medieval/renaissance melee combat gets invited to CA to take part in a project
-We have no idea about how timelines work or what stage CA are up to.
-It’s reasonable to suggest if CA ask someone who is a known expert from a particular era to help them there could be a game in development based on that era.
-Nothing confirmed but it’s certainly not nothing.
Which is my point, we have no idea as CA has multiple projects. It could be the Saga line or even a none TW game. "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment", so yeah I want more than just that to get hyped for it. Same way not long ago people were hyping WW1 because they wanted someone with vehicle design skills.

I hear that sort of thing a lot here and I’m not hoping for anything, I’d prefer Victoria or Bronze Age.
However, we’ve heard nothing about another project beyond 3K2 but, it’s reasonable to suggest if CA are working with an expert in medieval warfare then it adds more weight to a Medieval game although we don’t know how much weight.
Yeah there's plenty of crumbs around showing multiple projects in the works, hirings not under the TW title and CA has openly said they want more than just TW which is also shown with the announced Hyenas which...really not the direction I think anyone expected.
CA also tends not to give much away. They've been expanding the studios and hiring more people yet nothings been heard of the Saga team since they wrapped up Troy. Troy it's self came out of the blue and so did them getting WHF.
It's also not the first time they've worked with Historical youtubers, I know some of the ones I follow have been invited by CA twice, first was for ToB and second was for the to short reboot of Time Commanders.
So yeah I'm not going to jump to conclusions yet, CA has shown they can surprise us and it will be fun to find out lol.

They said they were doing Hyenas a while back and we saw they were recruiting for FPS devs, we saw it coming for a while.
That all depends if they bright in YouTubers who were specifically focused on the medieval period. We are due a historical game and bringing in a expert on the period is a reasonable sign.
No one’s claiming it’s any sort of confirmation, it just ups the chances of a medieval game.. hiring an expert in medieval combat.
Come to think of it, wasn't there also a hiring postings a while back for hiring devs with expriences in building rpg games or something?
I didn’t hear about that, where did that come from?
I can't find the post on this forum atm, all I can find is this article from july 2022 and this one from august last year. Turned out it's not specifically for an RPG, but an action game, which likely will feature third-person melee combat.
Specifically these bits in those articles
According to Creative Assembly’s careers page, shared via Reddit, the Total War developer is currently looking for a senior combat designer for a “new project” set in a medieval fantasy setting, who will “contribute to delivering world-class combat gameplay and emotion.”
The job role also indicated that the hired developer will need to bring their “in-depth understanding and passion for 3rd person melee combat coupled with experience in designing, developing and balancing combat systems.”
From the NME article and
The project was announced via the official website. Creative Assembly wrote a brief blog post, confirming the development of “an action project that will establish a new franchise as part of their growing portfolio.” The post also stated “this new action title will sit alongside Total War, Hyenas, and the studio’s other yet-to-be-announced project.” This unannounced game will be from the team that created Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2, although the project remains under wraps.
CA really are expanding with with their products then. I wonder if this is linked to the Ubisoft executive they hired as Ubisoft specialise in these sort driven campaigns.
I actually prefer this to the FPS, although I imagine that type of FPS isn’t aimed at me.

We knew they had something in the works as a sci-fi shooter but not much from that. We had nothing on 3K, WHF or Troy before they were announced other than they were working on stuff.
Also seen it claimed this guys area of expertise is late medieval to renaissance so exact same detail used to support a 30 years war game and that the odds of that have increased.

Yeah I'm not quite sure who the FPS is aimed at. I know and have said that CA wants to do more than just TW but not sure why they don't just do Alien Isolation 2 then.

I imagine they are trying to extend their audience.
It seems the next game will come from the Sophia branch of CA. A number of Youtubers were invited to look at their new game during March in Sophia, until it was cancelled.

Probably, hopefully not got too high expectations with it as that can bite all of us if it doesn't reach them. Ca seems to be one of the few studios that's expanding this year with many of the mega corps like Microsoft laying staff off due to "market slow down".
It will be interesting to see what comes out. Not sure we've heard anything from them in a while. I do wonder what their release schedule will be like as well, is Hyenas going to impact TW release?
The medieval arms expert hired by CA is more appropriate for a hack and slash action game than for a turn-based strategy unless CA is going all out for Medieval 3. Besides, didnt they just announced CA Sofia will be working on an action game ?? the mocap could be for that too.

Personally I think their FPS is in terms of business a good move, reasonably low effort compared to returns. I see teenagers constantly playing on utter trash mobile games spending a fortune on them so, it could be easy money.
Personally I think the only impact will be they don't like advertising 2 games at the same time so, at most they could push it back a month. I don't think there'll be much swapping between those 2 groups.

A major release will always be likely to use new combat animations and TBS are CA's bread and butter so, they are more likely to have all the new shiny stuff. I don't think they'll be using M2 animations.

Hope this is right. I am really excited with Medieval 3. Hope CA announce it after Chaos Dward DLC. I want to see the announcement trailer asap. I expect it to be a siege showcasing new battle features and multiple factions/nations.
