Can't see units on battlefield...

Hello. I am new to the TW games and decided to purchase Three Kingdoms after watching some YouTube videos of live gameplay. However, my battles do not look anything like the videos I saw - I cannot see the units on the battle field. Instead, I just see the green and red dots that represent the units - even when zoomed all the way in. What am I doing wrong? I believe my issues a is related to setting/GPU, but after tinkering with settings and control panel for about an hour, I have given up. Any suggestions? Here is what I see. Thanks.
