I don;t really get the problem with reusing assets. As long as it's done well, slight changes can be enough to create units that look new. And reusing assets makes it possible to create more content using less resources. And I like more content.
It should be done better than the marauders though.
There's no problem with it. People just use it as an excuse to criticise CA for the sake of it.
Lol, of course it is a problem. This is a game about Warhammer, a TT game were how the minis looked, were painted, etc, was incredibly important. People would have not played Warhammer if the minis were substituted by small cardboard bits.
Particularly the CoC was pretty badly because all of the idiotic design decissions surrounding monogods, demons of chaos and warriors of chaos.

The problem is that they charge money for units that we already paid for, and units that modders have already done better.
Remove agents/heroes from the campaign map like Three Kingdoms did. They are not fun and only serve to make the game more tedious. Nobody finishes campaigns because of how tedious the late game becomes with things like this to manage every turn.

People did, and do that. Hell, there's stories of soldiers on deployment playing it with rocks.
Indeed, playing with cardboard cutouts is the single best cheap way to play Warhammer. Furthermore there were not specific models for marked warriors. So yeah, not the best idea to use the table in your point there.
See, what you missed there in your eagerness to respond was any sort of nuance. You have no idea what sort of reusal of assets I'm defending, you just jumped right in. Do not worry though, Bog will explain. Reusal of assets where it makes sense and where it does not detract from quality is a good thing. So things like Marked Chaos Warriors should share skeletons and animations, but should have their own significantly unique skins and some unique animations.

Grudges:
6 years old Lord of Change with unimpressive animations. CA hid the exalted one until launch and lied that it was like Kairos's: https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/qak83o/so_turns_out_the_lord_of_change_in_the_trailer/.
CA put the Champions of Chaos LLs in WoC instead of monogods to save money on unique campaign mechanics
