I have a theory of who the LH is based on everything we know:

It's Prince Apophas the Cursed Scarab Lord.

The LH is coming with Warhammer Skulls so a Khornate LH like Karanak would make sense thematically, HOWEVER, Total War: Pharaoh was just announced and that's obviously Egypt, The Tomb Kings are the Egyptian Warhammer Race.

Prince Apophas is known as the Cursed Scarab Lord due to being eaten alive as punishment by Flesh-Eating Scarabs and a Dung Beetle Scarab was the focus of the Pharaoh reveal Trailer.

Apophas is a Character who is nothing but a Skull and a swarm of Flesh-Eating Scarabs

QED: Skulls Event + Pharaoh announcement + Scarab as focus = Prince Apophas the Cursed Scarab Lord as the Legendray Hero.

It would be disappointing to me if Apophas is LH but not LL.

Andy Hall in an interview a couple months ago was asked about Apophas specifically and the response was ~“I haven’t thought about him since I last talked about him”, and that was roughly 6 years ago.

There’s really no chance CA is offering free content for a DLC faction from WH2. TW:Pharaoh in no way has any bearing on what TWW is advertising at the Skulls event.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love it more than anything, but it ain’t happening.

You mean… like TK haven’t received it for 6 years? I’m a Khorne fan (my second TT race), and I hope it is Karanak, but even if I don’t like TK to the point I wasn’t even able to pass through turn 5-10 with them, I think we should be careful with our words. There are many TK fans who would love that addition as much as we would enjoy a Khorne character.

CA already did that with Bone Giant and Drycha. All they need is '*' under the promotion.

CA didn't advertise Bone giant in advance.

Drycha was always stated to be an extra thing for owners of the original dlc.

Yeah, CA went out of their way to clarify the "FLC" situation with Twisted & Twilight's release, with blogs and charts. (And still screwed it up). They tried to be very clear that the "FLC LL" was only available in Mortal Empires, for people who owned TWW1, TWW2, and Realm of the Wood Elves.

Unlike the Skaven Chieftain, who was just FLC for TWW2 (and therefore didn't require explanation).

modders with limited ressources did this amazing job. So "too complex" should never be CAs excuse for not adding something

LH will most likely belong to one of the game 3 races. But it is not impossible that it can also be used by one of the older races.
