Easy question, will we be able to preload the game Fall of the Samurai a day or two before, because it's likely about 15 GB and I want to play it right away when I come home from school on Friday :P

It doesn't seem like it. It's an expansion so the system probably doesn't work in the same way (considering you launch Fall from the Shogun 2 menu(?))

I don't think we launch it from the Shogun 2 menu. It's a standalone expansion and does not require the original S2 to play it. My best guess is that they will do the same thing they did with Napoleon (which I did not buy so I don't know for sure how it was launched but I assume being that it is standalone that it is launched from steam and not from the S2 menu.)

Hmm, I saw a gameplay clip in which someone was on the Shogun 2 menu and when they hovered over 'New campaign' it had Shogun 2 and Rise of the Samurai greyed out and a new tab reading 'Fall of the Samurai'. Maybe you can alternitavely launch it from the Shogun 2 menu? Or perhaps that was an early discarded design... I guess we'll soon see.

Steam usually allows you to preload the game 24 hours prior to release.

It's a stand-alone expansion. And just as you could pre-load Napolen(also a stand-alone) 24 hours before, you can probably do the same here.

I saw that too. My guess is FotS use the same menu for players who have the two games make the whole thing easier to lunch.

As for the pre-load, if I remember right, it wasn't aviable for S2. I guess we'll have to wait two more days to find out.

Just out of interest, what I have in my library is a greyed out "Fall of the Samurai preorder", which has links to new about FotS, but says nothing about the release date, just that it is "coming soon". Is this how steam preorders are meant to be? I have never preordered on steam before so I don't know.

    Phew...
Steam is blocked were I'll be so I can't get this till I come back home on Saturday. If you don't need to do anything, I've considered just leaving my laptop at home to load for me when I arrive.

When pre-loading is permitted (2 days before release) you still have to click the 'install' button. So if you can do that before you leave, you should be fine.

I have to leave tomorrow morning at 5, so that cuts it quite close...

Yeah... maybe you could ask a trusted friend to just press the button while you're gone?

There are already about three threads on this exact thing, so I suggest you look before you ask, but seeing as It's too late for that; it is very likely that you will be able to pre-load FotS, just check Steam tomorrow, or on thursday and the option should be there. (That is, if you bought it on Steam. I know if you got it direct from SEGA there is a pre-load (confirmed), but I don't know about Origin. A retail edition of the game will launch via Steam, so if you recive your copy early you will probably be able to pre-load it through Steam)

And then at 6 GMT you can begin to download and install the game. (Not completely sure about the time.)

Note: if you don't have good internet it is likely to take a loooooooooot of time and I mean a lot of time.

Thanks, I was getting annoyed with all these new members creating an account just to ask that question without even glancing at the current posts. I was getting tired of answering that question!
