I use a HD4850 as well. No complaints from me, runs ETW on 1280x1024 with all high settings, even some ultra settings possible - though if you are just buying you should as well tell us some more about your system, what display and resolution you run @, how strong is your power supply and your idea of "play this game". All settings maxed or high is enough, or just run it ? Also you would want a more current card if you are just buying, a 4850 is already a little "rusty", since you most likely will want to play future games as well as long as possible.

Lastly your budget would be interesting.

AND I am moving this to Technology Discussions.

I really dont know whats the problem, I where running 32 bit vista it worked fine.
Now with W7 64 bit, i cant get past any loading screens... My gfx drivers stops responding. Sorry for going off topic, but for game'ing i think nvidias would be a better choice.

(Btw i could run almost everything in ultra, its a great gfx in general!)

Two things, one, this 'trouble' should be discussed in another thread - its off topic from the OP. Two, secondly, I would recommend a DxDiag from both posters (do this by typing Run in the search box in your start buttons' list, then type 'DxDiag' - without the apostrophes- in the run box once you click on the 'Run' application). Then, post it here or in the new thread for trouble as described. This will help Iscaran and anyone else (like me :) ) see whats what and eliminate many problems so we can get to what is more likely faster.

    Here goes my Dxdiag; http://pastebin.com/a1xNCbmp
I cant get past main menu, got stuck on every loading screen.
Loading -> Full bar -> Black screen -> Full bar -> Black Screen.... Untill i force close it.

I've tested with 10.5 drivers, still same problem. Latest drivers still same problem.
Worked when i was running on Vista 32, not on W7 64 it dosent.
(Note: I didnt upgrade from vista to w7, i installed w7 on a empty harddisk)

Edit: I can play in campaign mode, but not in RTS

AMD prices are going to drop over the next few days/week due to the release of GTX 560. Wait a bit.

The 6850 probably wont drop much far below 150-160€. The GTX560 is more aimed at a price region around 200€....so the price "combat" is between HD6870, HD6950 1GB and GTX560 1GB. The 6950 2GB will likely stay around 230-250€.

    http://www.tcmagazine.com/tcm/news/hardware/34720/amd-counteracts-geforce-gtx-560-ti-price-cuts-1gb-radeon-hd-6950

    6870 $219
    6950 (1gb) $260
    6950 (2gb) $269 to $289

    That makes:
    6870 160 Euros
    6950 (1gb) 190 Euros
    6950 (2gb) 196 to 210 Euros

That's what that is claimed for prices of stock cards. With vendor specific mods and markups from everyone along the retail chain, prices would be somewhat higher.

I am definitely waiting for a week or two for prices to change.

There is already some early edging downward on Newegg... Some mfgr's are putting up rebates and straight out price drops
