Does this mean no more DLC? That would be unfortunate as no DLC probably means no patches...

And the reason for giving half the content to America that you're giving to Europe is . . . ?

Because the price in Europe=the price in America, even though Euro is valued higher than Dollar. Meaning that we both pay 50 euros/dollars respectively for example, but for Europe that's actually like a third or so more expensive.

    Hello

I have install "Shogun 2" and "Rise of the Samurai" at my Steam-Account. Did I have a problem, when I buy this Gold-Edition and would like install "Fall of the Samurai" and the other DLCs?
Have the Gold-Edition only one key for all or did have all DLCs and Addons there own key? Could I give the Key from "Shogun 2" and "RofS" a friend when I not needed?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

I think if you already have the game with the first expansion, the gold edition won't be worth buying in the first place.

$50 USD = $37.50 EURO as of 2/13/2013. Lets pretend the Gold edition will cost $50USD for this example, shall we?

US pays $50 for the game+2 xpacs.
EU pays $37.50 for the game+2 xpacs and ALL DLC

Using STEAM to tally up the remaining cost to US players, we can see the real comparision is:

US pays $90.50 for the game+2 xpacs and ALL DLC ($90.50USD = $67.88EURO)
EU pays $37.50 for the game+2xpacs and ALL DLC

    Please fix this discrepancy.

Or just wait till about the time Rome 2 releases, at which point all of this will go on sale for way less than any of the above numbers you wasted time calculating.

Yea, I had my math backwards, but the example stays the same. If you made someone from the US spend $50 on a game and tried to charge $50 to Europeans, they would be paying more for the same item because of the Euro/Dollar exchange rate(my mind tumbled around my explanation ;p).

Even with my wonky math, you can see how Americans end up spending much more after you tally up the cost of the DLC off steam to get a real comparison.

I don't know what the price is going to be like in Europe. If it ends up being 50€, then it's actually quite fair to include a bunch of DLC.

Thats like comparing apples with pears really. (its a dutch expression).

Do you pay the same for gas in the usa and europe no. Do you pay the same for your insurance in the usa and europe no. The value of a currency is not directly linked to a item. You dont make as much money for the same job in each country. So prices differ on availability and also VAT and taxes. I am not sure what the taxes are in the usa but here in europe i know m a little. Some things are a bit more expencive in Germany yet others are cheaper. Same with Belgium and us. So dont nag about the pricetag unless it seriously affects your expenses overall.

Good point. It is called the Cost of Living and it has to do with what you can buy with the (average) salary in your geographical area.

So comparing prices even in areas with fairly close standards of living to each other ($ and €) is not justifiable alone. You would, at least, have to add (some odd) data, like how many (overhead priced) games you can buy, with an average salary, in your area. ...And still we would have to forget stuff like taxation and manufacturing costs.

A very interesting perspective, thank you Sasu. I'm not an expert on taxation or tariffs, etc, and how that would affect the end price of the game. However, given the digital nature, the 'manufacturing cost' should be fairly equal across the board. I won't dispute that company's may price an item higher in certain areas simply because the market would bear it. I'm addressing the motive behind charging a higher price for no other reason than money.

Again, there may be other valid reasons for the price difference. I haven't seen one offered yet other than general lessons in economics. Outside of the cost of selling a game in another country, I'm at a loss as to why a game would 'need' to cost more for a digital product in today's global economy outside of greed. Thanks for your input. And please, I'm not nagging, lets remain civil.

    Hi all
I have Shogun 2, but i do not have fixed broadband, as i work away, only a wireless dongle, ie 2GB=$30 AU.
Recently went to play after a long time away, PC died, anyway, had issues with steam, and had to update eventully, go to play game, and it says needs to convert files, takes a few minutes it says, lol, well it started re d/l 24GB to convert the 18GB file.

At 24gb on 2GB data=$30AU, means a lot of money, and time, so this game is pretty much useless now as i cant afford that to make game work, after paying for it anyway.

Why oh Why did u make the best game since Shogun total war, on STEAM?, unless u have net game is not playable.

As a person who can not d/l 24gb, my question is.

If i buy gold edition, will game come with the new conversion format for steam, or will i have to convert the whole dvd again, once installed?

    Thank u

My only advice is to uninstall Shogun 2, and run the installer through the disc again and pray it doesn't download the entire game.
The 'conversion format' stuff didn't entirely exist until recently so it's not entirely CA's fault, I've had to redownload a couple games, 2GB/10GB for a few others.

Is cancelled or it's a delay?

Any word if this is planned to be released in the steam store? Or at least a bundle of the main game and the expansions?

The really odd thing is that you still need to activate it on Steam to play (or do you not?). Maybe it has something to do with limited availability in some places, but it's hard to figure this out.

As usual, if somebody from CA could enlighten us that would be very much appreciated.

I don't think they will since maybe they have a deal with Amazon to just sell it there. At least for the time.
