5 v 1 when in new campaign

zachdog6zachdog6 Junior MemberRegistered Users Posts: 3
I Keep trying to play fall of the samurai as the Nagaoka, however when I start a new campaign all of my neighbors declare war with me. ALL OF THEM! At Once! Even the ones that have the same alignment with me and that I have an alliance with. EVERYONE! What do I do? I would like to think of my self as decent, but I am completely lost when it comes to facing 5 different armies coming from different directions at the beginning of the game.

I do have The Radious mod. Could that be doing anything?

I don't know about the radious mod but sometimes a bunch of them can turn on you. One thing you might do is exchange access with toyama(you give them 10 turns and they give you 5 turns or just buy 5 turns), then move one unit(maybe your heir) into etchu above their castle and move one ship close to their castle . Declare war against takayama using your unit and ship to help toyama defeat them http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/594751795941400842/08D25D1985FEAD2AC4AFB12D4D08F136054FA449/ I usually move to attack the starting enemy in north shinano immediately, there's one less enemy coming in from that direction. The only immediate threat at that point is numata coming in from kozuke. If an ally breaks the alliance but doesn't immediately attack then there's a chance you can ally with them again if you give them some military access or a hostage.

This isn't just a simple matter of getting rid of the starting enemy and helping out neighbors. When i'm talking about everyone, I mean all surrounding countries attacking. I even did defeat the stating enemy, and one time I helped defend Toyama. It didn't change anything. All surrounding states still attacked me at once.

radious mod with the low unit upkeep and high morale right? If so? Just tried it on legendary difficulty and it's pretty simple-just be aggressive and recruit alot of troops. Sell military access 5 then 10 then 20 turns and use the money to recruit yari kachi and line infantry or whatever you prefer. Attack a neighbor when your strong enough. The only one that's declared on me so far is sado but now my former allies sunpu and kakegawa are moving into position to attack but I have a full stack in most of my provinces so it shouldn't be to bad. I've sent a naval invasion to sado of 11 yari kachi. http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595877882879566194/F1D17B745EBB2BB2DCBD40971A97FEC5C30A4260/

I just got it off of steam, so maybe? Too be honest, I hate the low unit upkeep and high morale, so I think I will remove those and see if that calms the AI down.

edit: OK, I switched to Darthmod and 4 people declared war with me right away again. This seems to be happening no matter what version I have. What do I do? I can't take on 4-6 full sized armies at once.

Don't know about any mods, but at least on legendary difficulty, if the AI runs out of enemies, you just know you're next.

Best bet is to ally yourself with some of them, then declare war on someone they hate, preferably far away, to keep them busy, on my legendary Aizu campaign I managed to keep both Jozai and Nagaoka allied with me through the entire game doing this, and they are both quite agressive, together they made a bigass barrier completely cutting off enemies from the south of the map while I took over everything to the north.

Don't know if this would help you but it's worth a try.

You also need to keep an eye on your prosperity and power rating in the diplomacy section, because if they drop too low you'll be tempting target even for your friendly neighbours. And when you're in war with someone that you don't want to conquer, just to defend, if you achieve several big victories they will be more likely to accept peace offer.
