Any way to stop full screen flashing in storms?

Welsh_DragonWelsh_Dragon Senior MemberGreat BritainRegistered Users Posts: 2,914
Currently playing the prologue, but in the battle in a storm the full screen flashing every few seconds is giving me a splitting headache. Is there any way to stop the flashing? I've tried tinkering with the graphics options, but I'm not getting anywhere. So any ideas please?

Oh, graphics option defaulted to extreme, if that helps.

Thanks.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

No, this is part of the battle. What are your specs? Try clicking unlimited Memory in the settings panal see if maybe it lightens it by forcing extreme level settings.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately using that option didn't seem to have any effect.

I know that the lightning flashes are atmospheric, but surely there should be some option to switch them off. I'm sure there are plenty of people for which this sort of flashing causes headaches or other health problems. Does nobody take into account people with epilepsy or (in my case) photosensitivity when designing things anymore?

If there is no way to stop the full screen lightning flashes that basically means I can't fight any battles in the rain/a storm. Which is going to make things difficult as I won't know about the weather conditions till I'm in the battle. I hope that CA can find a solution. Thank you.

I have the exact same problem. Really annoying cant get longer in the prologue. I do not see the point of that flashing light.

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem Alanio. Hopefully CA will come up with a solution.

    Thanks.

    Hi Welsh Dragon,

I am sorry you have had issues with the lightning flashes in stormy/rain battles.

I have reported the issue to the development team. Your issue will be looked at by someone, and hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and I will update this thread with new info if I get it.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Regards,
    Leif

I'm now playing with patch 2, but I'm still getting the full screen flashes in storm battles. It's a really big problem for me, as I immediately have to abandon the battle as soon as it starts, which is really impacting my enjoyment of the game. If you could provide any word on what is being done about this I would appreciate it. Thank you.

    Hi Welsh Dragon,

This issue is currently with the people who make decisions on what to do about such things, and I haven't heard anything since. Unfortunately I wouldn't expect this to get addressed until after patch 4 as there are more important fixes to be dealt with.

In the meantime the only thing I can really suggest is to try fiddling with brightness/gamma settings etc to see if it at least reduces the severity of the effect for you.

Sorry I don't have better news for you :(

    Regards,
    Leif

    Hi Leif,

Thank you for the reply and I appreciate you keeping me updated. I figured CA would probably prioritise the issues affecting the larger proportion of the player base (you only have finite resources after all) but it is good to know that at least someone is/has taken a look at it. I'll have a go with the brightness/gamma as you suggest and trust that CA will find a solution to this issue eventually.

    All the Best,

    Welsh Dragon.

Sorry to necro this thread, but this is still a big problem for me as I have to abandon any battles with lightning as it triggers really bad headaches. My light sensitivity has actually got worse since I last posted in this thread and I now have to wear tinted glasses when using the computer, but even that doesn't stop the lightning from triggering very had headaches. Any update would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    All the Best,

    Welsh Dragon
