How is it that this thread is 37 pages long and no one from CA has even bothered to post here and comment.

CA blames NVIDIA and NVIDIA blames CA. BOTH COMPANIES HAVE THEIR HEADS UP THEIR ASSES. CA has failed because they released a ****** game and NVIDIA failed because they don't want to be seen making a game worse (hard to believe that could even be possible) by releasing drivers for the game. They need to stop the blame game and pick up the phone and start coordinating. CA WE WILL HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Anyone else having lags on the campaign map? Specifically when selecting your armies, agents etc? Just some weird lags for me, even though my battles run smoothly.

Guys, does any of those solutions actually helped you? I tried them all and they didn't change anything. Well, not only those given here but basically any I could find... It drives me crazy since I can't enjoy playing :(

WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL 13.11 BEta 9.5

Install if you can find 13.11 Beta 9.4. HUGE improvements in FPS, and no campaign lags any more Please read below

    http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/113478-Most-crashes-campaign-lags-and-low-graphics-shorted-with-new-beta-AMD-drivers

Developers should check what is the difference in those two versions and see what was the route of the problem.

    my modus operandi:
    1. start computer -> Start Steam -> start Radeon Pro -> start Rome 2
    2. alt-tab to desktop -> set affinity from all to some to all cores -> alt-tab to Rome 2 -> exit to Windows
    3. restart computer (?!?) -> repeat 1. -> no more performance issues...

Been a pretty stable method for me the last few weeks, but I can't even begin to think why this works. Maybe because the system is 'warmed up' or something?

    @ Draadnagel

You can tell RadeonPro to take care of the cores and turn off the Aero-affect in Windows.

Sorry, this may be a dumb question, but what do you guys mean by lag exactly? Do you guys just mean poor fps, or are you talking about the weird stuttering that happens even when your fps is ok?

Played a siege battle yesterday. This happend:

I played 40 vs 40 custom battle and I defended.
The AI sent a few units to torch the gate. They got killed by my leves. Did minor damage to the gate. They then sent their general alone to torch the gate. He got killed after doing minor damage to the gate. They then sent a few more units and eventually got the gate. At this time, they had lost many men and had low morale due to their loss of general.

I would'nt say the AI is terrible, but they make some stupid decisions. Why send their general to torch the gate? Why only send 1 or 2 units at the time to torch it? Let the general stay back and send as many units as possible to torch the gate as quickly as possible. If you only send 1 unit, they get killed before reaching the gate. Also the city had two gates. All 40 units focused on one gate. There were a ****load of blobbing in the gate. It looked so silly I couldn't help myself from laughing. Why not divide the forces? Another weird thing was that those units that stayed behind while some were torching the gate were running back and forth all the time, tiring themselves for no reason, and stayed tired when they finally attacked.

    Some pics:

The game started stuttering like hell. FPS dropped to 5-6 when zoomed in but the weirdest thing was that when I zoomed out and moved away FRAPS showed 36 FPS but the game still stuttered. Units moving 1 frame at the time, birds flying 1 frame at the time, etc but I was panning the camera at 36 fps. Also the speed buttons stopped working. Selecting Fast Forward didn't do anything. Only Pause worked.

There are few issues for you to look over, CA. Here I gave you a little of each. :D

It may be that the AA is being disabled when you alt tab out of the game, I do remember it happening with other titles, and it would explain the FPS increase.

People are right , somethimes when doing battles with large scaled armies (then i go around 10000 romans and 10000 enemy) in the start all goes well , but once the battle really starts , its starting to lag very hard , not only in sieging a city , also on plain battles ... i know from my self it can't be my computer or the drivers! , i really hope to see it fixed , i love battleing with large armies.

Today i played the historical battle of Carthage and also , the start goes well , but once i go up the wall with my siege towers , and invade the city , terrible lag is showing up.

I hope CA will take time to fix this quickly , i love Total war 2 , bought all DLC even when some dlc is really little. just to help ya all out at CA for investing in what can be a great game!

Keep up the good work CA and please fix the graphic issues we have!

this also happened to me. I have played the game since release so i have seen it through all it's stages and improvements. a couple of days a go it started lagging horribly in a siege battle in the campaign. i had to exit the battle and reload a previous save. I didn't want to have the issue again so i autoresolved the battle and the horrible lag hasn't come back since, but i have noticed smaller lag on field battles, lags that were not there a month ago.
    CA, what is happening?

Hello Hardwaremaster, even it is quite obvious, could you please include in your OP that the power management settings for the computer could make a huge difference?

Experiencing the same issue both in normal battle and siege battles - though the issue is much much worse in siege battles where it's almost slowmotion!

When playing real time battles with two armies hiccups/lag/ stutter is STILL experienced when the two armies engage in battle. This "lag"/stutter is NOT the same as low FPS but is instead regular pauses. This has been improved in latest patches but is still present in a lighter form.
This happens despite the log NOT mentioning any downgrading of settings due to insufficient video memory and the game does not inform of this either.

Any news on this gamebreaking issue? With the upcoming patch 15 perhaps?
May I remind you that a great deal of people are experiencing this issue and have reported it as well.

    Thank you in advance.

Since i bought this game like 6 months ago i have issues with low FPS at the campaign map, and i have changed hardware too.
On the battles i can't complain about the FPS but i get bad FPS on the campaign map, which it's contradicting since the battles have more details.

Does anyone know what is causing micro studdering. Where the fps is ok but the animations studders like a sideshow???? My laptop is a windows 8, 8gb ram, Nvidia gt750m 2gb. Intel I7 4700. I can play on very high smoothly one minute to where combat animations studder so bad that even low settings doesn't fix it. It only happens when alot of units engage In combat at the same time but is making the game unplayable for me:-(
