Well that beta driver seems to have solved my issue of crashing when going from campaign to battle, so I'm pretty happy, the campaign stutter is a far smaller issue in comparison, so time to expand with the Suebi! (and wow, javelins before charge are great...)
Oh it will definitely be solved, the question of course is when. However im not psychic, so all I can do is guess when the patches and drivers will start rolling in. 24-48 hours.
24-48 hours? That's nothing, really. I mean sure, a shame I took some time off to play when the driver isn't right for it, but nothing major. (and yes, I know, it's you guessing...but your guess isn't in the span of months. )
Till shade is gone,
till water is gone,

to spit into Sightblinder's eye on the Last Day
Its a very hopeful guess mind you. But Im glad those new drivers help you Setrus, you deserve to be able to play. Dont worry the rest will be sorted out soon I hope.
its right there under Texture quality Btw you can just go ingame and lower Shader Model to 3 and you'll be using DX9.

You running Nvidia cards? if so there is a performance mode for Multi-Display-Performance. Just put it to single display performance mode
Yes, sorry. nvidia GTX 560 Ti with 320.49 drivers. I assume that you're talking about inside the nvidia control panel / 'manage 3D settings' / program settings (for steam) / 'multi-display/mixed GPU accelaration = single display performance mode' ?
Well, as a reviewer i must admit that this whole bomb of bugs and glitches, low performances was not present in the review build. Dont know how much old was it or if it didn't include many of the things that triggered this bomb... But i can't understand what the **** is going on... So many bugs, glitches and issues in the final build that keeps me wondering if this game was really tested. I mean, there was noone that noticed the AI issues ? Not a single one of them faced texture and performance issues? What is going on here ? I think CA needs to make an official statement and clarify things on the matter. It just doesn't make any sense at all.
Let's cross our fingers that everything will be solved in the next few hours/days. This game has so much potential in it that it's such a pitty to be wasted like this. It does not deserve it... This whole thing makes me really sad, as a reviewer and as a customer...
its kind of ridiculous that some guy that doesn't even work for CA is on this forum helping people solve their p.c issues, and CA hasnt made a statement or anything on day-one release, do they think that giving us free factions to play as is going to make us happy?? cant even use them?? ive been on my p.c trying to figure this out now for 9 hrs, this is bullsh it

Don't assume they aren't doing anything though, also don't forget the time zone difference either. CA is working hard even after hours. The statements have been made by CA regarding specific issues. And untill there are new drivers and a patch there really isn't that much to say. Would a post by CA staff saying that they are working on it make you feel any better? most just want it fixed.

The beta driver definately helped but the campaign lag is there still
Okay that is somewhat expected, but that makes it no less infuriating from my side. Still those drivers don't support Rome 2 either, they just are more recent and work better overall. The real improvements will come with the new driver releases.

lol, that will happen with new drivers AND some patches from CA. As of right now it appears that the majority is playing fine, but this is a serious problem none-the-less. Im not trying to de-fuse it as some people say, im merely trying to tide people over till CA comes back online fully in: 4 hours roughly.

I mean the game is playable for me. I just played for like 6 hours. But I know what causes campaign lag and how it happens ingame. It's when I click a navy, city, or army, and move the camera around on the campaign map. Also sometimes in big battles it'll do mini freezes. Since the driver update I ran a huge battle, unit sizes on large with 20 gladiator units on each side and had em smash into eachother in a desert. Minimal lag.
And forced the videocard memory with the ingame option
That gave me a good graphic boost, but the problem persists when the units clash, the fps says nope and drops down... i hope nvidia get's their sh*t togetter and start working on those drivers....
my gear:
i7-2600K CPU 3.40GHz
8.00 Gb Ram
Nvidia 560 Ti
good morning and good luck! thanx for your dedication Hardware you deserve a medal!
i lowered the unit details from extreme to high, everything else is still in extreme, it work somewhat better with small armies, it apears that this is indeed a drivers problem
RE-EDIT: the game just crashed while inbattle, i'll see if it persists...
Final Edit (i hope^^) nope it didnt crash again, why did it crash before? beats me!

So would you say that perhaps the lag can be traced to transparent/alpha based processing? that may be interesting. And for some people the Vegitation alpha may be forced on. OR possibly not. I'll look into it.

The only way to increase your in-game performance is to overclock your CPU and GPU. That's all. The new drivers from Nvidia/AMD will also increase game stability.

You honestly think that my 2 7970s shouldn't be able to handle small battles (8 units max before the lag is unbearable) on the lowest setting possible? Overclocking the card will not make the smallest difference when the game and drivers are not compatible with each other.

Very much incorrect as proven by many who have had their issues fixed by the BETA drivers.

Make sure that you disable CrossfireX untill AMD releases proper Profiles and Drivers for the game. As quoted by a member of Nvidia's Driver Team:
We work to provide driver and GeForce Experience optimization support to all major release games, but they aren't always available right on launch day. If not, they should arrive shortly thereafter.
