What about INTEL?! I'm using an Intel HD graphics card, no-one has put anything on how to solve the problem on that
Seriously, you dont have a graphics 'card' at all: it is integrated. First of all, which Intel HD series do you have? Second: it doesnt matter at all because you will not be able to play this game on integrated graphics at all. Not even on the lowest settings (maybe if you dont mind playing a 5-10 fps slideshow) no matter how optimised this game will get. You honestly expect to play a game like this on your integrated graphics? Dear god.
I have an issue where whenever i end my turn on any campaign it stops on 1 faction for a while then everything that happens after that faction is extremely laggy, even after the end turn cycle.
Let me be clear if i am doing something before i end turn (battle, moving troops) it works perfectly the lag only start after i have pressed end turn and doesn't go away unless i quit the game.
I have tried all of the possible solution but nothing has worked, GeForce Experience has located my Rome 2 but tells me it cannot be optimized.
Well, read some posts regarding unit details settings, waugh it makes a huge difference! Especially when going to High from Very High from Extreme
An image of the above having everything on the extreme preset but changing unit details does this to the FPS.
Extreme: 13-15 FPS
Very High: 22-24 FPS
High: 75-80 FPS
Only difference I notice going from extreme to high are how the fingers are rendered, on high they're just sticking straight out, while on extreme, they grip around the weapon.
The nvidia profile doesn't fix much for me, it says I don't even meet the minimum specifications, yet I have a gtx 560 along with an I5 650 and 8GB of RAM. It suggests to put everything to the lowest setting. But I updated my driver let's hope that helps

Yeah. Forget out the nvidia profile. It really doesn't work.
Hmm, after more tests/benchmark runs, yes it runs better but still some seriously slow frame rates, even when the graphics are low (and looking poor!). As the beta patch did help significantly, albeit not sufficiently, I hope that Nvidia can release one that gets performance levels as were seen with Shogun. (I've also checked some of the other suggestions installing dirextx etc.).
I think for now, I shall retreat away from Rome II until the Holy patch appears.
I have done every single thing on this page, plus things I have read in other posts and my game actually looks like it is running worse. I really don't know whats going on I get an average of 55fps in the benchmark but when I go to Campaign map or fight a battle it is a laggy unplayable mess. I am using a Radeon 6950, is anybody else using this and having the same issues?
I have a HP 620 Laptop. I accept its out of date but I do expect this game to run. In Rome Total War you could tailor the graphics so your computer could run the game with ease. This is missing in Rome Total War 2. As yet the graphics issues makes the game kind of unplayable because the graphics are so laggy. I don't need the best graphics, but i do want a lagless game. Please sort this out so i can enjoy Rome Total War 2.
Poor performance here as well. i5 2500k, 8GB RAM and a Radeon 7870. Game autodetected my settings as extreme and i went into the prologue and its so choppy, its unplayable. I have confidence CA will let us know the fix. Good luck guys
Lol. I don't recommend using any Nvidia driver passed 314.22 for 600 series or earlier unless you absolutely have to. They're not stable. Even the WHQL ones cause consistent driver crashes in games that can lead to freezing and having to hard reboot your PC if you don't Ctrl+Alt+Del fast enough to open up the task manager and close the program. Various problems and performance issues have been noted since the drivers went into the 320.xx branch. It's just been disastrous. That being said....drivers are not your problem when it comes to this game. Sure a lack of a profile sucks, but you can easily make one in Nvidia Inspector like I did, and try all the SLI/AA/AO bits you want, including the Shogun 2 ones, and it's not going to help you, it will just make things worse.
Btw, does anyone else notice the 66 fps frame cap in the Benchmark?
-Unbearable FPS even on high settings, let alone ultra or extreme. On a siege battle with high settings I get 15-25 FPS average, on extreme settings 5-15 fps.
-The game lags occasionally in battles, with frozen screens for 1 or 2 seconds.
I could play Shogun 2 with everything at maximum settings while maintaining 30-50 FPS in huge battles.
So this is definitely the fault of the game and not of any hardware.
There are a few options that really hogs the performance, at least for me. Shadow, Unit detail and SSAO. Turning shadow to High, Unit detail to medium/large, and off with SSAO, and the game runs a lot smoother, at least the battles, and still the game looks pretty good. Everything else is set to the highest.
When i first started the game, it automatically set everything to the highest, and running the benchmark then netted me around 30 FPS(dipping down to 17 at the lowest), by customizing the settings with what i mentioned above i went to 50 FPS average and never below 30 FPS in the same test.
Rig:
Intel i7 920 @ 3,8GHZ
6GB Ram
SSD
GTX 670(Using a pretty old driver though 306.97)
Edit: But anyway, i think CA could do with some more optimizing, as adjusting some of the options doesn't really seem to change a whole lot. Or maybe we can hope for some miracle drivers from NVIDIA/AMD.
Did a BIOS update on my GA-890GPA-UD3H and noticed a difference with the campaign map lag, its gone from borderline single digit fps to steady on most selection to fps drops only on agents (large area of movement) and large towns.
Can definitely play like this until the issue is addressed.

I don't know what happened, but today I checked for errors (steam), disabled the hdmi audio device (for another reason) and everything is at least playable, even with both monitors on. An increase of about 10 fps without changing anything important and no more graphic glitches... weird.
The framerate and graphics are still a bit low for the hardware I'm using, but it's ok, if it gets optimized in the near future.
Edit: The only thing i changed ingame is that I am not playing the roman faction anymore.
"[EDIT] Nvidia Has Now released a new Geforce Experience Profile! Which appears to have helped people a LOT. So download it and try it, see if it works for you!"
Hello
Me and my friend is trying to play some multiplayer co-op campaign and everytime my friend is going to fight vs a specific city, the game just desyncs. During the fight it'll also be desynced where I can see him clearly lose, where on his screen he's winning.
After the fight is over the turn goes as normal untill it's his turn again. Then everything stops, it freezes at 9:59.
Not sure what to do, anyone having the same issues?
"[EDIT] Nvidia Has Now released a new Geforce Experience Profile! Which appears to have helped people a LOT. So download it and try it, see if it works for you!"
I have a GTX 560TI, what do I do?
Do not use that profile. Geforce experience tool is pretty decent most of the time and I think is worth using (alongside your own general knowledge of GFX settings / tinkering) but in this instance its WAY off. As in, it appears to be setting 80% of settings to off and the rest to low. When it shouldn't.
It has for me, and I think there's at least 1 other person in this thread that has commented the same.

^That. I've got a GTX 560 TI and the recommended profile on Geforce Experience sets almost everything to low. I've got the common low-res textures problem and it's unbearable. The game is playable, but things are so blurry my eyes hurt after playing for like 15 mins, unless I set everything to low, in which case I might as well play Rome 1.
Also, found a bug where you can't finish the prologue. Come on guys, the prologue? First order of business should be to iron out the issues there, if only for a nice first experience for everyone.
How could CA miss this? Didn't they try their game out on any normal machine? It's like 80% users with problems out there. And the patch is coming on Friday? Really? I don't mind the wait, but what bothers me most is that I can't get the full experience I was expecting on day 1 from a product I pre-ordered and paid for, which is disappointing.
And the thing is, I've got it easy. From what I'm reading in the forums, there are people with huge FPS issues everywhere.
What can I say, let's all hope the Friday patch is gonna fix everything for us...
I have the 326.80 driver for Nvidia geforce 760GTX and it didn't help.
He is not talking about a new nVidia driver. He said "a new nVidia Geforce experience profile"...
And doing what he said actually solved everything for me.
I was having crazy frame rate issues (down to 10fps in some battle closeups), couldn't even get it running smoothly on low-mid settings, no matter what I tried. After I let the nVidia experience thingy tweak the Rome settings, most of the them were set to Ultra or very high and suddenly everything ran smoothly.
Sure, if I zoom all the way into a giant fight with fire arrows and everything, then it stutters a little bit, but nothing seriously.
You can get the nVidia Geforce Experience application from their site. Try it out. I hope it helps
But, for example, in my case, i have an AMD graphics card and i have all the settings in "extreme" and the unit faces are really detailed, but the helmet, the armor and the arms seems to be like in "low".
Comments
Seriously, you dont have a graphics 'card' at all: it is integrated. First of all, which Intel HD series do you have? Second: it doesnt matter at all because you will not be able to play this game on integrated graphics at all. Not even on the lowest settings (maybe if you dont mind playing a 5-10 fps slideshow) no matter how optimised this game will get. You honestly expect to play a game like this on your integrated graphics? Dear god.

I have tried all of the possible solution but nothing has worked, GeForce Experience has located my Rome 2 but tells me it cannot be optimized.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

0 · Disagree AgreeWell, read some posts regarding unit details settings, waugh it makes a huge difference!

0 · Disagree AgreeI think for now, I shall retreat away from Rome II until the Holy patch appears.
Good luck people.

0 · Disagree AgreeBtw, does anyone else notice the 66 fps frame cap in the Benchmark?
- Report
0 · Disagree AgreeAMD FX-4100 (3.6 GHz)
Nvidia GTX 770 (Gigabyte's Windforce Edition) - Driver: 326.80 Beta
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
XFX Pro 650W Core Edition
My problems in a nutshell:
-Unbearable FPS even on high settings, let alone ultra or extreme. On a siege battle with high settings I get 15-25 FPS average, on extreme settings 5-15 fps.
-The game lags occasionally in battles, with frozen screens for 1 or 2 seconds.
I could play Shogun 2 with everything at maximum settings while maintaining 30-50 FPS in huge battles.
So this is definitely the fault of the game and not of any hardware.

0 · Disagree AgreeWhen i first started the game, it automatically set everything to the highest, and running the benchmark then netted me around 30 FPS(dipping down to 17 at the lowest), by customizing the settings with what i mentioned above i went to 50 FPS average and never below 30 FPS in the same test.

0 · Disagree AgreeCan definitely play like this until the issue is addressed.

0 · Disagree AgreeThe framerate and graphics are still a bit low for the hardware I'm using, but it's ok, if it gets optimized in the near future.
Edit: The only thing i changed ingame is that I am not playing the roman faction anymore.

0 · Disagree AgreeI have a GTX 560TI, what do I do?

0 · Disagree AgreeMe and my friend is trying to play some multiplayer co-op campaign and everytime my friend is going to fight vs a specific city, the game just desyncs. During the fight it'll also be desynced where I can see him clearly lose, where on his screen he's winning.
After the fight is over the turn goes as normal untill it's his turn again. Then everything stops, it freezes at 9:59.
Not sure what to do, anyone having the same issues?

0 · Disagree AgreeDo not use that profile.

0 · Disagree Agree^That.

0 · Disagree AgreeHe is not talking about a new nVidia driver.
My mediocre specs are:
Gpu: Geforce gtx 580, cpu: i5 760, 16gb ram, (1020x1080).
