hey guys

just reporting for AMD Crossfire users that AMD just released a crossfire fix and performance boost.

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst13-10WINBetaDriver.aspx

Lucky crossfire users, hopefully they improve SINGLE GPU Performance and that **** campaign map bug gets fixed XD
Rome Total War 2: Updated AMD CrossFire™ profile
improves CrossFire scaling up to 20% (at 2560x1600 with extreme settings)
resolves corruption issues seen while playing the game

When installing new AMD drivers always make sure you completely uninstall the old ones and run a driver cleaner before installing the new drivers.

A guide to uninstalling display drivers can be found here. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=379505

Downloading now to see if it works.
EDIT* After downloading I had a slight FPS improvement with a single Radeon 6870 because the game is now utilizing more of my GPUs power, but I still could not get the game to function in crossfire. Now in Crossfire it is just a black screen.

Well even without crossfire I still got better FPS with a single GPU so I would recommend downloading it.

It didn´t work for my HD6990. The problem seems to be there again, but it seems it took a little longer to get it.

I don´t have the time now to test the complete uninstall but I promise i will in a couple of hours and come back with my results.

Some more info regarding my "it does not work for me" post: the problem seems to appear after i end turn. During AI phase sometimes it gets a bit screwed and when its my turn again it seems to be solved. Then sometimes In my turn it happens again. If I alt-tab it seems to work fine.

Anyways its quite solved, it just randomly reappears in those situations.

Keep up the good work (and slow the battles a bit? ;) ).

I've not had any problems on my rig. I have dual Ati 5870, with the Cross-fire feature disabled. Everything running maxed out. I hope the update does not mess me up.

I may try the new drivers in a few days, but I just hate fixing something that's not broke.... :)

Well. I would call it broken if Crossfire is not working ;)

I suppose that you have to uninstall previous drivers, because I tried the beta driver and my monitor went black and then a blue screen and I had to do a system restore :(

You can install over the old ones. But it is considered a best practice to do a uninstall & driver clean first. That way you are sure no remnants of the old driver remain.

Got like 4-5 fps increase in campaign map on a single HD 7770, so I guess it's better than nothing. Still doesn't fix the huge fps decrease when selecting or hovering over a character on the map, tho that might be a game engine bug (or a feature :) ).

    Windows 8.1 Pro x64
    Intel Core i7 - 4790K @ 4.2 GHz
    Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Toxic Edition 3GB - CCC 15.4 beta
    Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 16GB (2 x 8GB) 1600MHz 9-9-9-24
    Samsung 850 EVO SSD 1TB

I can confirm you: clean uninstall and using latests drivers did not solve the problem. I have not yet seen it in the battle map, but the campaign one definitely still have the problem.

sure, ill give u my dxdiag, but if u need some other info let me know.

BTW: I´ve played a battle with fullscreen and new drivers and the problem did not occur. But the performance was worse.. not that it lagged much, but I could clearly see it. For instance, each time i gave an order to a unit, or I set 5-6 units to a new location the game "kinda" froze for a lil´bit (less than half second maybe). I changed from Windowed to Fullscreen when I was already in battle so the performance drop could be related to the on-the-fly change but...
