Wouldn't it be cool if someone did a Naruto mod for Shogun 2?

As I've been waiting for Shogun 2 to come out, I've been playing the amazing "Third Age" mod for Medieval 2 Total War which for those of you who don't know is basically a Lord of the Rings themed Total War game. Incredible mod . . . custom made map of Middle Earth with all of the key factions and settlements in their proper place. It's a free downloadable mod that you MUST play if you are a fan of Total War games in addition to Tolkien's trilogy.

Anywho, it got me thinking about truly amazing mods that would be awesome to have done like what the Third Age did for Medieval 2. Given the Japanese setting, and me being an anime fan, I thought about how cool a Naruto themed mod for Shogun 2 could be. You'd have factions: Land of Fire, Land of Wind, Amegakure, Land of Sound, Land of Water, Land of Lightning, Land of Earth, Land of Waves. Factions would be led by a kage isntead of a daimyo, there'd be rogue ninja you'd have to worry about, obviously not just talking about the "ninja" agent in this game but the armies would be themed more around Naruto if you're familiar with either the manga or the anime. It is a great story! Even with Total War factions I would imagine it would already fit really well with the Hattori clan due to its ninja focus, and that would only help to make such a mod a natural fit.

Your ninja agents that level up in addition to mastering what you choose would change their title from genin to chunin to jonin. There could be "dilemmas" like Shogun 2 would have but in this game it would involve the dealings of the Akatsuki you would have to prepare to contend with. They would field units at the very least comparable to elite units that are recruitable in Shogun 2. There's so much you could do and I never realized the scope of what mods can accomplish until I played the Third Age. So that's what I'm thinking! A Naruto: Total War mod has so much potential.

It's a dream, I'm a dreamer, yeah I know. But it's ok if it never happens, as I'm sure I'll be perfectly happy with Shogun 2 as is, but hey, we all know this forum is all about killing time, daydreaming, whatever, so dream with me if you want! Let's talk about what mods YOU would like to see for Shogun 2! If you're as eager about playing Shogun 2 as I am, you want distractions like this thread could be! Taking the time to think about such a mod and writing about it here just got me 10 minutes closer to having my own copy of Shogun 2 lol so it wasn't a complete waste for me :P

Sounds good as I'm a huge fan of Naruto too.

But the problem is that Naruto does everything via small man teams, I think 8 is the biggest group they ever use outside of the 'Great Ninja War' thing so the battles are either going to be tiny which might not be too fun, over populated diluting the Naruto experience or text base which, tbh, would be boring.

gah, now I have to wipe my geek off.

-Samurai Warriors skins for the various faction generals
-same thing but with Rance universe.


oh and naruto has nothing to do with shogun and should stay this way till the end of time.

Let's see ... there's an accurate depiction of reality ... an "almost" accurate depiction of reality (that is "more fun" than accurately depicting reality) ... and a "far out no way Jose" does this resemble reality "simulation."

Well this has been funny for me seeing so many go out of their way to shoot down the mere suggestion of a mod they wouldn't even have to download to play. Now I'm wondering if it's more of a matter of the average Total War fan liking the series so much for its historical accuracy for the era of warfare depicted (and having to do with war scenarios from actual history) or moreso a matter of how much anime/manga straight up sucks

Now I would think it's the latter because I know lots of people loved the Third Age mod for Medieval 2 even though that is a fictional war, yet I could have sworn I read quite a few posts who remarked how much they like Total War going back to a Japanese era because they like anime or manga.

Still I get a big laugh reading the thread now seeing this suggestion spawned more hatred than the guy who posted "God save Japan" earlier today :P

Without going "over all that again" I believe that misconceptions about the Japanese warring period has brought about .... things that wouldn't be in the game if these ... "influences" which bring about these misconceptions were not present (of which Anime is but one)

I am looking forward to the game, but would "tweek it a bit" here and there if I could (maybe a mod will?). No big deal, this game will certainly "cure" my current NTW addiction .. until the next TW game or expansion comes out.
