Yes wood elves should spread forest, maybe beastmen too? Some of their outposts maps don’t have forests, tragic

The Wood Elves of Warhammer DO NOT expand forests they literally contained it to begin with.

"Meanwhile, the Wood Elves utilize waystones differently. The forest of Athel Loren is a mystical place whose shadow lies far across the Old World, its outer bounds marked with waystones, placed there by the first Elven settlers to contain the wild lands within, the branches of great trees ever straining to escape the magical barrier thus created."
Warhammer Armies: Wood Elves (8th Edition) Page 9
They don’t spread Athel Loren lol, they just spread regular forest to make the areas habitabke to them
Considering they use outposts outside of Athel Loren baring a few places they aren't going to expand other forests and if anything they preserve not expand forests.
Why? Lol they live in forests of course they would expand forests
Would have thought you would actually know about the Wood Elves giving your "devotion" to them.

Not by choice the events of the War of the Beard forced them to become separate from the High Elves these are the elves left behind by their own choice and they would keep up with containing forests with waystones.
And? Was Kathep in naggaroth in lore? Lore is not followed in this game stop with these stupid excuses
Khatep is exiled and forbidden to set foot in any of the great cities until he fulfills his cults ancient promise which means he cannot be in a Tomb King area without being a horde that has nothing to do with forest Do you even read the lore at all?
And Khalida in lustria? And vlad alive? Etc etc
Khalida is only in Lustria during the Vortex campaign due to Lamia not being on the map and Vlad being alive comes under him being a vampire you keep forgetting about the Black Coach which brings Vampires back to life along with the original requirement for him was raze Altdorf to the ground but those aren't changing an entire race to fit your view of them.
So...the Light's vaunted justice has finally arrived. Shall I lay down Frostmourne and throw myself at your mercy, Fordring?

Again this is start positions(which people have asked for Azhag to be moved) not changing an entire race to fit your view of them.

What would you say about beastmen being able to take the forest from the wood elves then? Just curious.

Beastmen thrive in forest, so they would not revert the forest back but just make it chaos corrupted.

Awesome, I agree. I want an option that isn't pure horde gameplay.
They probably won't do that especially considering we don't even have a horde for Settled factions like Volkmar, Khatep and greenskins could've had.

:( your right too. I'm just a huge fan of options. (Long as it's loreful, which means not insanely crazy) I wouldn't have even minded a possibility of going horde for greenskins.
loreful is why I mentioned those lords Khatep isn't allowed in the great cities and Volkmar has only left Reikland as a horde during Sigmars Blood (received forces from other provinces by order of the Emperor) and Storm of Chaos (Running after the Chaos army.)

I like the idea... and I mean conquest is still an option anyway I do full on capturing territory as WE to get amber and fortifications elsewhere. Being able to grow nature around those places is a cool idea. The question is can it be done easily on the campaign map. Maybe there should be limitations... Im thinking all green climate areas for them could have them grow forests around conquered territory but not red or bad climate areas for them.

This would fit properly and it fits their history!!! They once occupied all of the Old World and beyond, with their cousins!! So why f'n not!! Besides you are playing a game that gives you a line basis but, it is up to you to rewrite the lore!! Correct?

Why not? Because they're actively against the forest expanding. It makes as much sense as dwarfs with balloon jetpacks.

WE should be -and are- able to conquer the world, but if you're going to turn the lore 180 then what's the point in playing Total War Warhammer? At that point it's Total War Generic Fantasy Armies.

Nothing of what you said was true, that's why not.
The game's not really about rewriting lore, otherwise there'd be hundreds of threads like why can't Karl Franz convert to Chaos since it's all about teh sandboz.

Corrected action is the most sincere form of apology.

You're completely incorrect. The Wood Elves placed the waystones a very long time ago specifically to prevent the forest from expanding!

Just throwing this out there but the forest DOES expand when you set up outposts. Hell even when you take Norsca. Forests and scattered trees sprout up throughout the terrain as you go. Even trees that existed before the outpost change to match the expanding forest.

This has actual rammifications in the form of ambush mechanics and the Welf fight in forest buffs. Does it mean you set up full cities? No. But it does at least demonstate Welf influence expanding.

It’s only a graphic change. No forest are added to the maps, the outpost maps are ridiculously low in trees, some of them have like 3 trees...

Lorewise the Wood Elves do not want to expand the forest. They've even purposely contained it. I think that should settle that.

Welves don't have to act lorefully, realistically very few of the TWW races do. That said, their structure should be loreful.

Yeah, of course there is some leeway. But there are better ways to improve the Wood Elf experience that doesn't undermine the lore.

Something that either makes holding places outside Athel Loren easier or make them less reliant on those hard to defend places (permanently adding amber to the pool when you occupy a place, so you don't have to keep it to get the amber? For instance? Or more Amber per spot?)

i find it super boring... it basically can be summarized in "keep quiet and wait until you have friends that give you amber".

That is the opposite of what I do.

Try taking off with your main army and ransack your preferred enemies. Hit their weak settlements and raze for gold(while also weakening their economy), ambush their isolated armies, if you hit a tough target or are being pursued world root into an adjacent province and gallavant about sacking their realm; return to finish the job of your main target at an opportune moment and set-up outposts. All the while you're building allies by targeting specific factions.

I am non-stop moving around the map, except to recruit or replenish troops.

I think that they should have a few areas where they can build full on cities and whatnot, but not everywhere, because didn't the Athel Loren forest span the whole world before Chaos showed up? I think I read somewhere that there are still spots where the forest exists on other continents, and the Wood Elves should be allowed to build there.

Wellllll you could do that by betraying your allies and paying Norsca and Beastmen money to make them ally with you then go on and destroy the world.

Archaon would show up and eventually and fight you but he's just jealous because the Chaos Gods love Karl the Everchosen more now

There is a place south of the mountains of mourn called the haunted forest that was never developed by the lore. It may be something similar to Athel Loren.

The Laurelorn Forest and the Bowmen of Oreon would be a great addition to the map for them. Sadly the first one is just a landmark, and the latter didn't make the cut.

Last I checked, the elves in Laurelorn Forest aren't actually Wood Elves. They're elven colonists who stayed behind but didn't become half-feral uber-isolationists like the Wood Elves, and they probably don't have the sort of mystical stuff that the Wood Elves get from Athel Loren. (They still like to be left alone, but they actually make contact and negotiate with their human neighbors instead of hunting them and enslaving their male magic users.)
