im just wondering when were going to see a total war game such as Empire or more up to date with gunpowder instead of the sword. last few games now have been all sword play im wondering if total war are looking in to making a new game theres so many time periods the American civil war for one or during the period of queen victoria. im also wondering if total war will eve delve in to more modern warfare such as the 1st world war because of the games are played with blocks of men is it possible for this to be achieved

    I think CA will one day go "modern" since ultimately CA will run out of other option unless they want to repeat older games over and over again.

    The Pike and Shot era is often requested, so maybe they'll do it after Three Kingdoms.

    If you mean modern as in anything after 1500 (roughly the beginning of the modern age), then sure. Will we see anything as late as WW1? I don’t know. Trench warfare for a RTS doesn’t sound particularly engaging and campaign diplomacy would be virtually non-existent. I can see a 19th c. game in Europe being viable. Not so much the American Civil War.

    yeah TW would need to change so much of the basic structure for a WW1 game to even be close to working.

    ACW would make sense for the spinoff/saga of an 1800s TW.
