Extreme mosh pit blobbing during sieges?

I noticed that in any type of sieges the units like to ignore spacing and keep charging non stop into the enemy causing a mesh of flailing limbs and weapons. This does not happen at all in normal field battles as troops will collide with the enemy and then start to space out again as the fight goes on.

This causes crippling lag in sieges and it needs to be addressed, when a unit slams into an enemy unit they need to STOP and fight them, not try and run through them to the other side while getting cut down. It completely ruins sieges.
