Crash to desktop...pls help

Whenever I try to load a saved game or autosaved game NTW crashes to desktop. I've tried deleting old saved games as well as many other "fixes" identified on forums. My machine used to run it perfectly.

    I note from your dxdiag that you have a pretty recent version of your graphics card driver. Did you update your driver before or after it started crashing? If before, it may pay you to wind back to an earlier version.

    It was crashing before, so I updated it thinking that would stop it from crashing, but no, the crashes continue. Empire does it as well...

    i having the same problem. but when i start a campaign or anything and played a few min it crashes to desktop why? and i did check the requirements and there was no problem with it

    i having the same problem. but when i start a campaign or anything and played a few min it crashes to desktop why? and i did check the requirements and there was no problem with it

    I'm guessing, but sometimes it can be down to overheating.

    my cpu is 35 degrees and the gpu (according to catalyst control centre) is 56.

    What does a program like Speedfan or PCWizard say?

    speedfan says the cpu hits a maximum of 34 before the game crashes. PC Wizard has core 1 at 49, core 2 at 46 and the GPU at 53 immediately after the game crashes. it always crashes at exactly the same point - during the loading screen, about a tenth of the way in.

    What happens if you use 1024 x 768 monitor resolution and Shader 2 in graphics options?

    It crashes at exactly the same spot as before...no luck...sorry. And thanks for all the help.

    Have you considered installing Win 7 64bit?
