Not sure I get how this works, I put a point into a follower to increase command and nothing happens?! And I run into this with governors and generals all the time.

No change in command stars, 3 before, 3 after.

You only get an extra star on one, three and five, the other two only add extra other bits. If you mouse over three you'll see +2 command stars plus a charge bonus in addition to the melee bonus. The second level only gives the original one star plus an extra 5% to melee stats (from 5% to 10%).

The bonuses are sequential but not cumulative, if that makes sense.

Ah, OK. Thanks for the quick reply, makes sense. But it does feel a bit counter-intuitive because you expect from a UI perspective the same outcome when you take the same action. I was seeing a bump sometimes and not other times and it made me start to wonder what was going on.

I picked this on up last sale and I've got to say, I love it.

One thing I'd tweak a bit is the map, bit too big for my tastes. I realize CA made a big to do about how large it was as a feature selling point of the game, but in my experience it turns dealing with enemies into a bit of a whack a mole.

It's thrown me on some of their other games as well. You see plus one on something and don't realise it's the same plus one as you've already got.

It's a nice little game with some decent innovation, so sometimes you have to think a little differently from the main games. I know what you mean about the whack a mole, though. I think it's supposed to represent the slow speed of travel in those times. Also, if you're playing West Seaxe you have a lot of regions with few armies to cover them early on.
