If they did do Cathay how likely would Nippon be?

Its likely they'd be running out of things to include at this point. But every game has had 2 Race Pack DLC's. Beastmen, Wood Elves. Tomb Kings, Vampire Coast.

So assuming we get a pre order race pack(Kislev) and the 4 base factions that have army books left(Daemons, Ogres, Chaos Dwarfs, Dogs of War). And the big assumption that they'll create a race from complete scratch like Cathay for their first DLC race pack. Whats the likely hood of getting Nippon next?

They'd be a little further east than Cathay and if they included the island they might as well shrink the pacific and let the world map wrap around.

Nippon from the start was my most wanted of the lesser factions. Japanese mythology is both rich and marketable.

We don’t know the reason why Araby was killed. Araby being decomfirmed has no impact on anything else than Araby.

Even if we get Cathay, which is already a pretty big IF on its own despite me hoping for it, I would consider Nippon unlikely.

It would be more then enough for the Map to end at the coast of Cathay without even touching Nippon itself.

Both are 100% official, though they have been barely fleshed out compared to the likes of races with armybooks.

Rumour knows nothing, CA already had historical muslim factions in a couple of their games. It's probably because GW already knows what races will be featured in the Old World reboot, so they want to promote them. Kislev and maybe Cathay are in, Araby is not.

Historical games are one thing, fantasy games are another. Do you know what gin means in their culture? There are still a lot of nuances. You need to know the culture. I suspect that CA did not want to experience this kind of risk.

I think there is a decent chance for Cathay, but I strongly doubt Nippon will be it's own race. Probably just placeholder factions with Cathay units and their own namelist, like Kislev is currently.

If the third game does extremely well they might have a chance, although CA has so far focused mostly on lord packs, so I would not count on it.

Just saying, when have Samurai, Ninja, Oni, and Dragons not sold well? There is definitely a market to appeal to the mythology and fantasy aspects of cultures.

At the moment, any race (bar Araby sadly) is technically possible due to the inclusion of Norsca and the Vampire Coast (and the ability to create LLs and units). It's just a case of whether CA and GW want to implement them.

If Cathay did make it then Nippon would have a chance as Cathay would open up the Far East. Only time will tell.

Oh most definitely. It would be awesome. But that would mean GW would have to rush the lore-making and design of Nippon in time for WH3’s release. I just think that’s way too unlikely.

No Araby and Cathay aren’t fanmade. Araby in fact had as a much official stuff as Norsca and the Vampire Coast, probably more. But for some reason CA and GW didn’t want to add them.

Why would Cathay be in the old world reboot when it is very far away from the old world, and does not appear on the maps that they have shown.

If cathay is already scratching lore for content, then Nippon will be straight made up stuff, not gonna happen

Also Norsca was stolen content from warriors of chaos, same way beastmen are non-factor and nuisance without chaos invasion

In their culture, they are evil spirits, like the devil with devils in Christians. In Arabia, genies are one of the main types of troops.

Even if I'd love to see Cathay (and Araby - Nippon is maybe too minor to be included ... or as a "sub-culture" for Cathay ?), this kind of statement needs to be nuanced.

CA can't even develop new aspects of already existing factions (see the Bretonnia debacle) so I'm not sure anymore that they can just make up a whole faction.

After Cathay and Hobgoblin Khanate, it could be a possibility- but of all the minor races (even Araby) I expect Nippon/Ind the least. I would much rather they went back and added in Araby/Albion/Amazons first.

Cathay is more likely because the directly interact with the Ogre Kingdoms and CA could get away with adding part of Cathay rather than Grand Cathay. It would be a substantial stretch of the map to bring in Nippon.
