How Many are still playing Vanilla MTW 2 and Kingdoms

Hello

I am wondering how many of you are still playing the vanilla Medieval 2 Total War and Kingdoms as opposed to using mods... There are so many good ones it seems that I find myself looking and modding more than playing...

What are you thoughts?

Cheers,
G

I am, but I'm open to any ideas about mods for kingdoms. Any really good ones?

I am, and I like Kingdoms better than the M2TW campaign. BUT, I am currently downloading a mod to RTW Alexander. So maybe I'll like that mod and will try others.

Yep, I have only ever played the vanilla versions of Total War games, including the ones you mentioned. :D This is mainly because I fear that mods will have more bugs, and/or changes that unbalance the game. ;) Oh, also, regarding Empire TW, I fear that I might run into extra problems because of mod interactions with Steam.

Well, I know I'm still in the honymoon period (on my first long campaign) but I'm pretty obsessed.
I had read about MW2 in PC Gamer and knew back when it came out, I would have to try it.
Its a work of genius. The developers must have been truly inspired.
My first rts was Homeworld, which I never finished. The later levels became a sort of "click" fest.
MW2 is nicely balanced between the turn based and real time segments.
I'll be playing this for a while.

Both. I have the Retro Mod installed and have a game going. Getting ready to change that PC over to SS 3, which I have heard is pretty good. On a new PC I bought the TW Battle Chest as new set of backups, my original discs are getting a little dinged and worn. I am playing through all the games on the set (Rome, BI, Med 2 and Kingdoms) to get everything unlocked, rather than copying over game files as I have done in the past. It has been an interesting experience, to say the least.

I still play vanilla (though not exactly as I use Custom Campaign Mod 2) but I prefer playing with Broken Crescent and Stainless Steel. Must be because I played vanilla to the death by now.

Only on vanillas....for some reason I have a reticence to mod games.

I should give it a go, I suppose. But if you do have a problem, the first thing people ask is "Do you have any mods running?".
    Yes, it's me.

I recently played through 2 of the Kingdoms campaigns (for the first time! Even though I've played SS, Third Age and Chivalry II over Kingdoms for a long time).

I am. I have never been one for mods (I never knew they existed till Med2 :p). The only mod I play is the XGM and Greek Wars ones for R:TW. But majority of my games are played in vanilla. I also find them to complicated with Steam, now you need a mod manager (?) to play with 'em/ Before it was just a copy and paste job.

I keep going back to Vanilla occasionally, but for the last two or three years it has been mainly mods. Currently using Stainless Steel 6.3, Third Age and DLV Europa. For any of you who haven't tried mods, I would thoroughly suggest giving them a go. Click here for a list of the mods for the Kingdoms expansion hosted at TWcenter. A lot of the larger mods are subfoldered so they don't interfere with your installed vanilla files, come with their own installer and are easy to launch.

I started very recently using my first mods. Had the same fears as many of you have already mentioned.

Some are good and add some good things that make it "newer" and gives more reason to play. Even then I handpick my mods carefully, try to learn as much of them as possible. If I don't like them I play vanilla, which in my opinion is good enough. :)

    haha Ruz you old fella!
I played my last single player campaign, with Byzantines (3rd or 4rth time total) before a few months. I enjoy both vanilla and mods games. And if opportunity arises, I won't say no to a MP game with Ruz

    hello

I have re installed ME2/Kingdoms, I instantly downloaded Kingdoms grand campaign mod, im loving it!

Its basicly the kingdoms nations put into the vanilla campaign, with all the units etc. Im playing as the Byzantine Empire, and working to reclaim the territories of the Roman Empire. Im loving this game so much more than Empires/Napoleon, its so much deeper with the family trees etc.

Cannot reccomend Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod enough

after that I will try Call of Warhammer

I'm playing vanilla sometimes when I feel for some Medieval II Total War multiplayer battles. Though, it doesn't happen very often becouse I'm always losing. :p

Only vanilla here. I've never installed a mod in all my life... Probably because i don't know how to do it:)

    Technically no, but basically yes.

I've only changed particular codings in my files for historical accuracy and game balance, but never tried any of the mods out there as frankly, I don't care to.

Though, I did see one once for and entire England map... that did perk my curiousity a little... perhaps in a few months I may think about it again.
