Kislev roster, thoughts??

Jote191Jote191 Registered Users Posts: 981
Okay I like what they are doing with Kislev. Looks great and I love the new units... But we got some problems!!!

Why does Katarina not have a unique mount??? Like I get horses and bears being the main thing to ride on, but why does the most important Kislev character have a generic bear mount?? It doesn't fit her and is just boring. Something like this would be infinitely better. 👇

Overall their roster is cool, but feels incomplete. I guess I'll have to wait for the lord packs.

This is probably my first negative thread. I still love you CA and GW xD

I agree with that. Really disappointing :[

    It is a meme.

They got Bears for everyone: bears for legendary lords, bears for heroes, bears for sleds, bears for artillery even they have bears that are elemental.

At this point I feel there are more bears then humans in Kislev.

I can best describe it as "okay." Not great but not terrible either.

The mount choices are a problem though. Hopefully CA gives Katarin her sled and gives Not-Rasputin a unique mount as well. There needs to be some diversity here to distinguish the LL's from the generic lords and heroes.

Also, the lack of artillery was annoying as well.

Meh. Expected 3 heros not 2 so less than what I expected but yeah still meh.
Does create an interesting precedent though. Will the other 5 rosters be meh or will this be the Skaven (launch roster) of Game III?

I really love the roster. It’s comparable to other core rosters in size and doesn’t have unnecessary roster bloat like HE or Skaven for example. Remember all the useless units without a shield? Archers with light Armour? Units you’ll never use anyways...

The Kislev roster is extremely fictional and grounded which is something I appreciate a lot. Every unit seems to have a different purpose and role and the roster overall doesn’t have any redundant units.

The only disappointment is the lack of a third Hero, but that will come as DLC for sure.

    Overall I would give it a 9/10.

Can’t wait to play it myself.

Not a single surprise in the reveal, this has been underwhelming. I'm certain the roster at launch will be good and fun to use but yeah, I would have liked a few units on top of that.

I was expecting a short roster, but not that short. I was expecting some kind of cheap artillery besides lil'Grom, at least one unit of pure, non elite melee infantry, a bit more in the skirmishing department, and, specially, more inspired mounts.

I mean, maybe give the leopard to the ice witches, a winter sledge for Katarin...

Nothing special. The only unit I actually like is guys in golden armor.

It’s quite comparable to other core races tho and doesn’t have unnecessary shieldless units like HE for example.

If you would cut all the useless units from the HE or Skaven core roster you would have the exact same amount of units.

For me it's missing ice sleds as a mount and maybe a higher tier of the skirmisher cavalry instead of the wagons, but that's it. Seems a pretty versatile roster.

Higher Skirmish cav is almost guaranteed for an Ungol LP.

I think the main problem many people have is that we are looking at Kislev from a perspective where WH2 cores received 2-3 LPs each.

Comparing it to the actual core rosters, it’s quite equal. Especially if we cut redundant units like Lothern Seaguard without Shields, Clanrats without Shields, Silverhelms without shields or Archers with light Armour.

I kinda wish there were one or two more infantry types (not weapon variants). Armoured Kossars and Tzar Guard look too similar. I can live with the infantry though, it’s par for the course for a launch race pre-DLC.

The mounts are another story. There isn’t even a barded horse option to pad out the mount selection, and every single character including LLs has the exact same two options. Even Bretonnia, an FLC from game 1, does better in this regard. Incredibly disappointing.
Now then, what's going on 'ere? I'll have no more o' this!

With boring Kislev they did best they could, no surprises no disappointments. I easilly see 1 possible dlc thats it.

It is odd, the roster looks great and I love the ice gaurd. I think they've shot themselves in the foot tho we've these duplicate mount options, mostly with Katarin.

Tho they may surprise us with a third option for her that may come thro access or something, who knows.

It's a shame but I'm interested too see what the tempest magic looks like

Could use better mount selection from within the faction. Ice Kitty mounts for Ice Witches when CA?

You don’t have to leave spears to babysit your archer line because your archers ARE the spears, which is interesting. Neat breadth of cav, (but I still want a knightly order Empire DLC CA!) and the chariot/sleds are mechanically interesting even if they are ugly.

Lotta staunch lines that force you to engage with them or get peppered to death, with cav that circles in once the melee has begun. I’m personally not as much a fan of hybrid units myself so it’s not my ideal way to play, I generally prefer teams of specialists, but it brings something unique to the faction lineup and that at least is the important part for the health of the game.

Yeah I really love the Kislev roster. It's just the generic mounts that are the problem to me. I really hope CA adds something as flc or I'm gonna have to wait for a mod.

Decent roster with good strengths and weaknesses. Bit too heavy on the bear mounts for me, but it's not... unbearable.

Yeah agree or possabily giving the maidens there snow leopards to ride but I think bears for them seem a bit much

Kislev are traditionally meant to be one of the most down-to-earth factions of the Warhammer world. This really doesn't transpire from the roster. Everybody just having a bear for a mount is dumb, but IMHO the complete lack of regular artillery or mundane vehicles is more telling of the direction this is going.

Why would a functional army go from "absolutely zero war machines or chariots" straight to "magically ice-cushioned sled dragged by bears with a giant mortar on top of it"? What possesses a competent strategist to go "Nope, we don't need simple dime-a-dozen cannons or cheap and reliable wooden war wagons. It's either the insane dysfunctional monstrosity that requires higher-level metal casting, ice magic and tamed bears to be put together, or nothing!". It makes zero sense no matter how you try to look at it. Not even goddamn High Elves have such a gulf between simple and functional mundane designs and insane magic-driven one-in-a-thousand contraptions.

As I was afraid with heavier meddling from GW than in the past, Kislev reeks horribly of World of Warcraft / Age of Sigmar stupidity and infantile unbelievability.

They are cats. I really don’t think they should be mounts for the same reason War Lions aren’t mounts.

Love it,as you said the big problem are the mounts and also its shame that we didn't get one more hero(druzhina) or lord(female boyar) in the current roster.

    Overall pretty hyped for Kislev.

-Biggest issues with it is obviously no unique mounts for Katarina and Kostaltyn.
-Another War Bear Rider variant would be welcome(have both Shield & Sword and Halberd variants).
-Another artillery unit, a great cannon or something.
-War Sleds should be dragged by horses, or atleast the light version.
-Lastly not a single religious 'Grand Orthodoxy' unit for Kostaltyn?

Otherwise the roster looks pretty solid with lots of cool hybrid units. *Exception is the Snow Leopard which is just feels really out of place and stupid in my opinion. Am also abit iffy about the Elemental Bear to be honest...

I don't know what to feel anymore regarding TW: WH3, with previous (TW:WH2) I felt hype over the roof.

Right now I am focused on BF2042 which has juicy info and I am hyped for it as hecks, plus Diablo 2R.

I honestly feel mehhh about everything so far they shown.

I mean this is most recent video, do you see CA doing anything like it? Sure they used to
