"If you want further performance improvements, get the UI Performance mod, it fixes the stutter when you select anything from the UI such as the Diplomacy screen, Faction Screen, etc.

The engine is searching for files in a folder that has nothing in it, so it has to search the entire Warhammer 3 folder to find the files it needs to load the data. That's the stutter there... That's a simple fix CA could have done since Warhammer 1... It's always been an issue."

Could be all baloney, if it is mods can delete.

Apparently CA has advised the mod creator that they are looking into it. https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/comment/3385883/#Comment_3385883

In layman terms the redditor says,

the UI files in the folder the engine is searching for are not in said folder, therefore it has to search a lot more before it finds it.

Hence why the small delay when bringing up things in the UI.

If true, pretty funny oversight. CA definitely needs a deep clean.

That small delay has a surprisingly big impact on your enjoyment of the game. Sitting on a high end rig I was getting frustrated with what I felt were large lag spikes opening Nurgle's cauldron menu. Even worse, there were lag spikes while mousing over the different symptoms. Spartan's mod completely fixed the issue, which is awesome.

If this has always been the case how come wh2 doesnt have this?
It needs to be pointed out that what people call "cheese" is just playing the game the way it actually exists not in some fictional way they think it is supposed to work.

Warhammer 2 does have this, we have just been conditioned to be use to it.

There has always been a delay when dealing with UI elements.

Hopefully when CA fixes this they thank the mod author.

    Meh.

Do you care about any changes to the game other than more bears?

This would be a big optimization change for campaign map. It would make the campaign a more smoother experience. How is that "meh"?

Did you think the potion of speed was "meh"?

Edit: It could also lead to CA taking another look under the hood and potentially see more flaws in their file pathing.

I'm looking forward to this mod. It'll be the next one I install. It really does make one wonder how many other lines of code create monkey chases. Hopefully, more issues like this are found and brought up. There are some bizarre lag spikes for my mid to high end computer that still make no sense.

Modders know more about the game and how to fix it than CA does it seems. Modders are always fixing CAs problems. Sometimes in a day. When it takes CA months to fix the same problem.

Yeah, this is a very common problem and well-known in the modding community (see the Modding Den in discord). As others said, it's present in all recent titles, including 3K2.

Cleaned up a little bit of off topic chatter (which includes chatter about other posters rather than the topic).

I have no delay and from the source:

I hate this kind of stuff, because it is 100% techdebt.

There is already a ten year old jiraticket for that and someone higher up the chain decided it is not worthy to put effort (aka money) into it.

CA is going to put this on the 2023 roadmap and hype it up like it was a major fix.
