Medieval Bad AI
I played Medieval II the other day, I was taking the rebel settelment east of the red sea, I had six infantry men with a bunch of archers left, whenever I charge my infantry at their remaining two men they begin to route, even though those two men were acrchers themselves. My spearmen outnumbered and were more powerful than those peasant archers, yet they routed, when they reached the gates of the settlement they would cease routing, so naturally I would charge again, and sadly they would route again. Appearently this AI problem hasn't been fixed, casue it happens in Empire too but in a different way. See Empire AI Thread for more.:p

I am not sure I understand your problem. If you have archers, then move them in range. They'll take care of the two.
