Constructive Critism for DEVS: Congrat,Exotic units, Archers and Unit Variants. CONGRATS Well, i am fairly happy whit how CA is doing they listen a lot more than most companies, although i don’t agree to much on their DLC i think that TW2 got reasonable DLC compared whit TW1 and other games. Their DLC contents it is getting way better, i loved the Tomb Kings to me it’s by far one of the best DLC next to Wood Elves and king and Warlord. they also VERY pleased that they are taking unit variations more seriously. Congrats on doing a good job and always take in consideration what we comment on no matter how stupid or unreasonable. I am also very happy that you are adding new kind of weapons that were never on TW whips, flying units, monster’s units, magic units, lords who are artillery units too. many people don’t notice but I do being a long-time fan since Medieval 2. Also thank you for switching the scene and moving whit Asia I was getting very tired of European/Middle east maps. Although I would have gone whit Total War Asia(whole of east asia) many religions many cultures and nations. LACK OF EXOTIC UNITS There is room for improvement and the main complain i always had about TW2 its the release of multiple variations of one damn unit into multiple useless variations, I know It’s a way for them to cut cost and make the roster appear bigger, example making a new animation it’s a lot of money because it goes to various departments and those guys need to be paid and they get paid well, instead of making a Hight Elves Skycutter its easier to fill the roster whit variants like said 3 dragons... i get it but CA has no need for that they are making A LOTs of money. So, whit all for that being said my biggest disappointment in TW2 is the lack of exotic units and going whit the bland roster (Humanoid roster) since it easier to animate, what they did was do multiple variations of one unit to make the roster appear big in lack of unique exotic units, High Elves being the most affected if you take its variants off its roster is something like 12, perfect example is adding 3 unnecessary types of dragons instead of making the Hight Elves Skycutter ( kind of flying artillery) or Dark Elves Shades… why do I need 3 types? Just give me a Medusae or why so many Skaven Slingers?? give a ranged whit a serious power like the Skaven Gatling Gun(and whit a chance of exploding) I prefer options than more of the same. That what makes this fantasy game stand out compared whit historical the big monster and cool units So this new DLC to me is a bit disappointing for a player who its not a Elves player I was talking whit my friends and most of them agree, although it has better content its 8$ its reasonably priced again, but again whit the mundane roster. If they would have added High Elves Skycutter, White lion Chariots or the Dark Elves Medusae, Blood wrack and the Kharidbys(hard name to write) one of these exotics ALONG whit one of the new units (Example Shadow Warriors whit White lion Chariot) it would have convinced even me to buy it. I would care less about regiments of renown I would prefer new units than those… although I am reasonable, and I get it’s a cheap way to spice things up for people who like multiplayer battles and I am a single player man. Again since there are so many variants that took up space that its hard now to give new units, as example Hight Elves don’t need 2 Silver Helms eliminate SH whit out shields I don’t need 2 of course i want whit shields and take that space would have been taken by White lions Chariot, 3 dragons? Eliminate the middle one and add me a Skycutter. Of course, it’s impossible now but I hope TW3 has a more varied roster AT LAUNCH its already a hard sell as it is to few faction and content. not to mention 4 chaos factions? Ught… they can just give me 4 LLs whiting one faction. Also, many of us are still mad whit the Beast men lackluster roster. (to bad it’s a fun faction to play and does Horde right unlike Chaos) ARCHERY AND RANGED SLIGHT NERF So other than that, one mayor area that needs work for me and one that I really dislike in TW1 and TW2 is that it’s a Shootfest, archers rank up lots of kills due to that they cant shoot friendliest like in other games they had to be managed carefully, their accuracy rate is too Hight and they can deliver all their damage at once since melee troops only attack the ones they have in the front they can’t deliver their full damage. a very easy fix is to reduce 2 things which are… 1- AMMO -is to reduce ALL Archers ammo and some ranged ammo that way you have to carefully think how to use them before ammo runs out that also would enable player to instead of making a front line of soldiers and the archers sitting behind ranking up crazy kills to actually THINK how to use them. whit the elves arrival on TW2 it went overboard. A example is a medieval archer could carry 20 arrows in one quivers depends mostly on the size but that was the average arrow were expensive sometime there was and special job called The Fletcher. So, each archer 20 shots archer in TW are firing close to 30 or more…. if we limit the ammo a bit it opens the field for more strategic thinking and less cheap statics 1A-SLINGERS don’t apply, they are pretty weak, and you can carry a whole lot of ammunition than specially crafted arrow. 1B- GUNPOWDER- AMMO NERF, ACCURACY NERF AT LONGER RANGES- they could carry a lot of ammo on a pouch the problem was the longer the range the harder to hit that’s why they shot in a firing line to make a shotgun effect and actually hit something that why. So they would need a accuracy nerf not ammo reduction. 1C-CROSSBOWS –AMMO NERF, ARMOR PIERCING BUFF, FIRE IN LINE NOT ON ARC- they are manufactured by a Fletcher it even require a bit more work than Arrows,Crossbows were fired like muskets in a straight line that how they work best they WERENT NEVER fired on a arc volley. if fire on and arc they lose their power due to being bolts (velocity power) and not arrows, would need to fire in a straight line and get a slight Armor piercing they don’t have armor piercing, (when I first saw this on TW1 I was appalled….) 2-ACCURACY- Must also say that the range of some of them combined whit the accuracy it’s too much. In the end reduce accuracy of ALL ELVES except Wood Elves (arrogant ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and the Emo Elfs) just a bit say 180 to 170 range wood elves need to have the best archers High Elves are taking that role. What this would do?? These small fixes will enable the player to think and know the strength of each units Gun, bows, slings and cross bows have different advantages they can no longer form a spear line and Pepper the enemy to death… that’s a cheap way to play even more so now whit the Seaguard also I personally think hybrid units or units carrying multiple weapons need time to change from one to the other. Sea Guard and Shards variants- Sea guards to me are Op severely on single player I don’t know on MP, they have Spears, Shields and bows?? That’s too much! All that equipment I would put a severe nerf to movement and a small nerf to how quickly they fire., how can a militia unit whit training in so many areas do a better job than a fully dedicated archers? Or Spearmen? Shards variants Well, shard need to have difference a man whit a shield and a crossbow than a man whit a crossbow only Cross need faster firing than cross and shield. MISC Even though it’s a fantasy game you can apply some logic to some units. we longtime fans like that it makes us think that it COULD be real, example Shade whit big swords… sorry GW fans that doesn’t make any damn sense how can a stealthy unit shoot and move whit a ♥♥♥♥ing claymore on the back? Not to mention it isn’t supposed to fight up close that’s the idea of a skirmisher even on the game I don’t use them up close. Stats between variants (Shield-S, Unshielded-US) I been very adamant about this since they filled the roster whit a whole lot of useless variants at least they can make them unique whit some slight nerfs and buffs , I think that all variants need to have some buffs and nerfs in some areas it would open the possibilities. i think this is very doable and it should be easy and I know fans would like it. I do martial arts and whit two hands you have way better movement and can attack from multiple sides using one hand to control the spear and the other to direct it in multiple fast stabs, slashes or angles. one time I pick up a heavy metal cover to imitate a shield, your movement is very restricted and on one side of your shield hand its hard to attack whit a spear, so I am guessing that’s why they fought in in shield wall the one beside you defended the side you were having problems whit. Example S. Saurus and US Saurus shouldn’t have the same stats US. Saurus could have slight speed, attack and charge buff and S.Saurus should have way better defense. That way each variant fills a need and depending on player style he can customize its army example I want a offensive army I would use S.Saurus and if against shooty or arm poured foes I would use US. Saurus.. this also applies to shards. Shielded variants on horse shouldn’t matter since the type of shield on horseback is the kind that straps near the elbow in which you can maneuver your horse whit that hand which makes even more obsolete the US Silver helm… Even though I don’t care about the coming DLC (elves are not my fav faction, don’t care for the lords and lack of exotic units) I saw somethings that caught my eye, there a unique regiment of renown unit that I personally think it should have been a unit its called Dark Ravens they are basically Dark Elves mounted on Dark Pegasus they carry crossbows… see units like that we would love to have seen as full units. Another thing that caught my eye was the whip wielding dark elves not only that, is the effect that they are able to hold enemies in place… that awesome it also fits their weapon choice a whip can tangle enemies. Keep it up whit stuff like this.
