  • Definitely would like to see Mithradates &/or Diadochoi.
  • Why are Romans wearing it though? Isn't really a type known to be worn by Romans as far as I can see.
  • There is also Tylis (pirates & raiders) and Getae (I think was a free faction). I haven't played Tylis but roster looks actually pretty good with lots of Swords, some decent Spears, has the lower end Rhomphia unit. Odrysians are hard since the…
  • Baktria. Great start position with 2 full Provinces against the East edge of the map with relatively easy initial expansion and spectacular variety of units allowing a wide variety of powerful army compositions.
  • Jebus I actually just started my first Carthage campaign yesterday. Not suitable for beginners. Or I ****ed up pretty bad. You're crippled by the Client States preventing you from having decent food & income (which is why I never tried before),…
  • followed by perhaps using the pause button or slow motion setting. This is a good point too, TW games let you pause whenever you want for as long as you want to assess the situation & give orders. No limit, its not considered bad form, I do it…
  • Yeah Galatians are pretty neat, a really tough start getting to expand without getting stomped on by Seleukids though, took me I think 3 attempts & even then nearly died a couple of times.
  • I'd suggest starting with adjusting the Mouse Sensitivity in Options. If its too fast your cursor will jerk all over, too slow you have to constantly lift & reposition the mouse. Personally I find the defaults a bit on the slow side but its the…
  • Well Ardiaei looks like its got pretty solid starting position with good expansion options, good spear infantry & some handy AP Axe flankers, just not a huge amount of variety in army composition & I never liked their helmets. I see a basic …
  • After the Prologue, Lepidus or Octavian Roman factions in Imperator Augustus Campaign would be good start for Rome (actually Rome in Grand Campaign is probably good too): you have decent size starting empires with I believe good early expansion opti…
  • Have only used it a couple of times but also seems to be working fine here. But I don't have any mods etc installed, just used it to launch Rome2.
  • I've played very few Rome campaigns, even in Rome1. Some of the small factions are really interesting with some really great units/solid starting positions. Some of them have pretty limited, unrounded unit roster or bad starting positions which can…
  • Jebus, 100 turns & minus 600 order?! Its probably that (Gaul?) army above the tooltip between Singidun & Akink, its still in the Singidun province & it'll be sitting there in Raiding status: each turn thats going to be generating a bunc…
  • From recollection the original boxed version just had the Steam pre-cache files which were significantly outdated immediately by launchday patches. Possibly in theory you could delete the game, install via DVD and quickly set Steam to disable updat…

  • Rome2 is still Shader Model 5 ie DX11 but no particular issues with running on Win10 that I'm aware of. I run it Full sreen Windowed.
  • There is no pause on the Campaign Map but in Battles the Toggle Pause button works fine for me, also Cycle Battle Speed. I normally just click on the speed I want though.
  • Not waiting once you're in the battle but on the campaign map before your army marches to Salerum. In the recent TW titles units with depleted numbers will automatically refill back to full strength over several turns on the campaign map. Just hit E…
  • Huh, that button does nothing for me. But at https://academy.totalwar.com/rome2/ there is a prominent Buy Now button that is a link to the Steam Store page for Rome2, thats some bad page design. Below that is a bunch of Youtube videos, doesn't appe…
  • First turn of 3rd part of the Prologue campaign right? Its been a while so I played it a few times trying things out. Magnum Opus follows (I'm assuming you're very new to Total War games here) Basically you should be able to win this battle by put…
  • They got good naval units from pretty much turn three. Where your land units still require additional research and building up. Oh you mean the bit where some factions get ships with powerful infantry crew & can land them at the start of battle…
  • Dammit, I wrote up a big reply but its disappeared when I tried to edit a typo Edit: well my original post showed up again *shrug*
  • I don't have Desert Kingdoms but from what I recall reading of them they have some of the hardest starts, some nice arguably OP late game units. I haven't played any of the Nomadic tribes, the lack of Infantry is offputting & Rome2 mechanics le…
  • It'd be great if they would patch some of the more egregious pathfinding/unit behaviour bugs & crashes. Minor change to enable Windowed Fullscreen would be nice. If Definitive Editions are to re-ignite interest in the era for an upcoming Saga (…
  • I believe you'll get auto-upgraded to the Definitive version.
  • Nice, I never actually played Empire much but have been meaning to try it again. So playing Russia while watching several versions of War & Peace Actually having quite a good time. Grapeshot cannon crossfire is super brutal (especially when y…
  • Sad if true but I think we've done pretty well out of the several new patches/DLCs we've got out of this pretty old game nobody reasonably expected to see any new content/patches for.
  • Me I'd like to see: A bunch of work on unit pathing on walls. Reintroduction of push-back in combat like in Rome1. (this could be the single greatest improvement possible) Actually useful defensive terrain within the spawn area in Campaign battle ma…
  • Basically no we can't expect hugely better AI. AI in many ways hasn't changed since Shogun1. Its learned some tricks in how to do stuff with new game features but its arguably gone backwards in other things.
  • v2.4.0 build 19683.1459595* Unless you told it not to Steam should automatically update it.
